PUBG Esports 2027

PUBG Esports is set for a major overhaul in 2027, with KRAFTON officially announcing significant changes to its competitive structure, regional qualification system, and points distribution. The upcoming season will introduce four competitive phases, expand the number of regions, and remove guaranteed tournament spots for Global Partner Teams (GPT).

One of the biggest developments is the addition of India as a separate competitive region, giving local teams a new pathway to compete internationally. Meanwhile, the existing EMEA and Americas regions will be divided into smaller competitive territories to provide more opportunities for teams worldwide.

The revamped structure will also introduce PUBG Esports Points, replacing the existing PGC and PGS points systems. Here's everything you need to know about the major changes coming to PUBG Esports in 2027.

1. India Gets Its Own Competitive Region

One of the biggest announcements for the 2027 PUBG Esports season is the introduction of India as a separate competitive region.

Previously, Indian teams had to compete through broader regional qualification structures. However, the new system will provide India with its own regional league and a dedicated pathway towards the PUBG Global Series (PGS).

This is particularly exciting news considering India's enormous PUBG community and growing interest in competitive gaming. The change could provide more opportunities for domestic organisations and emerging players to establish themselves internationally.

2. EMEA and Americas Regions to Be Split

KRAFTON is also restructuring its existing regional competition system by dividing two major territories into smaller regions.

The EMEA region will be separated into three competitive territories:

Europe

Eurasia

MENA (Middle East and North Africa)

Meanwhile, the Americas region will be divided into:

North America

South America

Alongside the newly introduced Indian region, these changes will create a more geographically diverse competitive ecosystem.

Each region will have its own Regional League, with teams competing for qualification spots at the PUBG Global Series. The revised structure is expected to create more opportunities for emerging organisations and introduce new rivalries across the international scene.

3. Four Competitive Phases Introduced for 2027

Another major change is the introduction of four competitive phases throughout the year.

Previously, teams competed through regional tournaments and international events under the existing qualification structure. The new format will provide four separate opportunities to qualify for the PUBG Global Series.

Each phase will consist of a Regional League followed by its corresponding PGS tournament.

The four phases will follow this structure:

Phase 1: Regional League Phase 1 → PGS Phase 1

Phase 2: Regional League Phase 2 → PGS Phase 2

Phase 3: Regional League Phase 3 → PGS Phase 3

Phase 4: Regional League Phase 4 → PGS Phase 4

Importantly, qualifying for one PGS event will not guarantee participation in the following phase. Every team will have to compete again in its respective Regional League to secure another international appearance.

The region of the previous PGS champion will also receive one additional qualification slot for the following PGS event.

4. Global Partner Teams Lose Guaranteed PGS Slots

KRAFTON has also announced significant changes to its Global Partner Team (GPT) programme.

Previously, selected partner organisations benefited from guaranteed participation opportunities at major international tournaments. However, starting in 2027, even existing Global Partner Teams will have to qualify for every PGS event through their respective Regional Leagues.

In other words, no organisation will receive guaranteed PGS slots simply because of its partnership status.

The GPT programme will also evolve into a partnership primarily focused on collaborative in-game items and marketing activities.

This is arguably one of the most important changes for established organisations, as they will need to maintain consistent competitive performances to remain on the international stage.

5. New PUBG Esports Points System Announced

The existing PGC Points and PGS Points systems will be replaced by a unified system called PUBG Esports Points.

Under the previous structure, teams earned PGC Points through Regional League performances and PGS Points through international tournament results.

However, the new system will award points exclusively based on performances at PUBG Global Series events.

These points will accumulate throughout the competitive season and determine teams' progress towards qualification for the PUBG Global Championship (PGC).

This means Regional Leagues will primarily determine qualification for individual PGS events, while international performances will become the deciding factor in the season-long points race.

KRAFTON has yet to reveal the exact points distribution and detailed PGC qualification requirements.

6. PUBG Esports 2027: Full Tournament Schedule

KRAFTON has also provided an early schedule for the 2027 competitive season, which will feature four PGS phases alongside the PUBG Nations Cup and PUBG Global Championship.

Here is the currently announced schedule:

Phase 1: Late March – Early May

Phase 2: Mid-May – Mid-June

2027 PUBG Nations Cup: Early July

Phase 3: Early August – Mid-September

Phase 4: Late September – Early November

2027 PUBG Global Championship: Late November – Early December

The schedule is subject to change, and further details regarding individual Regional Leagues and international tournaments will be announced later.

What Do the PUBG Esports Changes Mean for 2027?

Overall, the 2027 PUBG Esports overhaul represents a significant shift towards a more performance-based competitive ecosystem.

The introduction of India as a separate region, the restructuring of existing territories, and four qualification opportunities should provide more teams with a chance to compete internationally. Meanwhile, removing guaranteed PGS slots for partner organisations will make qualification more competitive.

With a new points system and a revamped tournament calendar also on the way, PUBG Esports fans can expect an exciting competitive season in 2027. KRAFTON has confirmed that further announcements, including detailed tournament formats and qualification rules, will follow in the coming months.
