We are here with our pick of the top 5 captains this week for Gameweek 10 of FPL 26/27. Choosing the right captain is one of the most important decisions for FPL managers ahead of Gameweek 10. With several favourable fixtures on offer, players have plenty of options, ranging from premium attackers to defenders who could deliver significant returns at both ends of the pitch.
Erling Haaland remains a popular captaincy choice, but Gabriel, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak also have compelling fixtures. Here are the top five best FPL captain picks for Gameweek 10, considering form, fixtures and potential returns.
1. Gabriel (Arsenal) – £8.0m
Gabriel is an interesting differential captaincy option for Gameweek 10, with Arsenal hosting Hull City at the Emirates Stadium.
Hull are a defensively minded side, and this fixture could turn into a relatively controlled encounter. Arsenal also possess a significant advantage in individual quality, making them favourites to dominate proceedings.
While Gabriel might not offer the same attacking potential as premium forwards, he could deliver an excellent FPL return through a clean sheet and defensive contributions. The Brazilian is also a genuine goal threat from set-pieces, giving him additional routes to points.
A clean sheet combined with a goal or assist could result in a massive captaincy haul.
2. James Tarkowski (Everton) – £6.2m
James Tarkowski is another interesting defensive captaincy option, particularly with Everton welcoming Coventry City in Gameweek 10.
Similar to Gabriel, Tarkowski could benefit from a favourable fixture against an opponent that Everton should be capable of containing. The centre-back also offers defensive contribution points and an aerial threat from corners and set-pieces.
However, there is considerably more risk involved compared to captaining Gabriel. Everton don't possess the same defensive quality as Arsenal, and Coventry cannot be ruled out from scoring or even producing an upset.
Nevertheless, Tarkowski could be a rewarding differential for managers willing to take a calculated risk.
3. Cole Palmer (Chelsea) – £9.8m
Cole Palmer is arguably one of the most attractive attacking captaincy options this week.
The Chelsea midfielder has enjoyed an impressive campaign so far, registering three goals and three assists in the Premier League. Under Alonso, Chelsea have also been scoring plenty of goals, making their attacking players particularly appealing.
Their Gameweek 10 opponents, Sunderland, are currently sitting 20th in the league table. It doesn't get much better than facing the bottom-placed side, especially when playing for an attacking team enjoying excellent scoring form.
At £9.8m, Palmer offers an excellent combination of individual quality, attacking involvement and favourable opposition. He could be a fantastic captaincy alternative to Haaland.
4. Erling Haaland (Manchester City) – £15.8m
Despite his premium £15.8m price tag, Erling Haaland remains one of the safest captaincy options for Gameweek 10.
Manchester City travel to face Nottingham Forest, who have struggled for consistency this season. Haaland also has an excellent historical record against them, registering five goals and one assist in eight Premier League appearances.
The Norwegian is in terrific form and remains City's primary goal-scoring threat. Given his ability to produce multiple attacking returns in a single match, overlooking him could prove costly.
With favourable opposition and excellent individual form, Haaland should remain among the leading captaincy candidates this week.
5. Alexander Isak (Liverpool) – £9.2m
Alexander Isak rounds off our list of the best FPL captain picks for Gameweek 10.
The Liverpool forward is gradually rediscovering his best form under Andoni Iraola, having already scored six Premier League goals in just eight appearances this season.
Liverpool face struggling Crystal Palace this week, offering Isak another opportunity to continue his impressive scoring run. His movement, finishing ability and attacking involvement make him a dangerous opponent for any defence.
At £9.2m, Isak is also considerably cheaper than Haaland, making him an appealing alternative for managers looking for a potentially rewarding captaincy differential.
