BOU vs LIV Match Preview

Bournemouth

Bournemouth were in dreamland when Phillip Billing struck within seconds after kick-off at the Emirates and Marcos Senesi doubled with 25 minutes left to play. However, the Cherries were stunned by a spirited comeback by Arsenal who secured all three points in the last minute of the game for a crushing blow to their hard work on the day. The quality of the league leaders were just too much for them to defend throughout the match while Gary O'Neil’s side were guilty of not converting big chances created in the first half.

The result keeps Bournemouth in the bottom three which they could have escaped with a positive result last weekend. They rank second now in the league in terms of losing games from winning position and suffered defeat in the last three with a two-goal lead, the most by any side in the competition. Things don’t get better from here as Liverpool visits them next having won only once against the Reds in 11 meetings. Therefore, the Cherries will look to draw out inspiration from their toe-to-toe fight with the league leaders to make something happen on Saturday.

Liverpool

Liverpool were counted out by many to make the top four after the terrible season they had. A change of form in the last five Premier League games has brought them back into the conversation. The Reds even played out a historic 7-0 win in the North West derby to stake their claim further. A brace from the trio Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, now the all-time top scorer for Liverpool in the Premier League, helped in the demolition and the record victory over Manchester United.

Moreover, the fourth victory in five matches sent the Reds within three points of the Champions League spot. Hence, Jurgen Klopp’s men have lessened the burden on their shoulders after their qualification to the competition was threatened by a 5-3 defeat at home in the first leg of the last 16 against Real Madrid. The team will travel to Santiago Bernabeu hoping for a miracle in the second leg in midweek but first, they take on Bournemouth in the Premier League to maintain their unbeaten streak. Even not at their best, Liverpool thrashed the Cherries 9-0 in the reverse fixture and after scoring seven last time, a huge score-line is not ruled out in this clash either.

BOU vs LIV Team News

Bournemouth

Jefferson Lerma and Hamed Traore could return from Bournemouth after both were sidelined in the close 3-2 defeat to Arsenal. Ilya Zabarnyi, Marcus Tavernier and Lloyd Kelly could also feature at least from the bench while Matias Vina, David Brooks and Junior Stanislas need some more time to recover from their injuries. Joe Rothwell should keep his place in the midfield after providing the corner for Marcos Senesi to give a two-goal lead for the Cherries last weekend near the hour mark.

Liverpool

Liverpool have no new injuries to worry about ahead of the weekend game with Thiago Alcantara, Luis Diaz, Calvin Ramsay and Arthur still out. Joe Gomez and Naby Keita could return from their muscular injuries although neither will take a place in the starting eleven. Jurgen Klopp had a quite dilemma to sort out whether to keep a winning eleven intact or make changes due to the round of 16-second leg against Real Madrid in midweek.
