Ezri Konsa FPL Arsenal
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal have agreed a deal with Aston Villa for Ezri Konsa. According to his post, the Gunners have agreed to a £50 million initial fee plus add-ons, while personal terms with Konsa's camp had also been agreed. The England defender was wanted by Mikel Arteta, and he's finally got his man.

For FPL managers, however, the bigger question is whether Konsa should be on the radar. Priced at just £4.5m, he could potentially become one of the biggest bargain defenders in the entire game if he establishes himself as a regular Arsenal starter.

Why Has Arsenal Accelerated the Ezri Konsa Deal?

Arsenal's decision to accelerate the deal is understandable given their current defensive injury situation.

William Saliba and Jurrien Timber have both suffered injuries, leaving Arteta with fewer reliable options across the backline. Konsa's versatility is therefore particularly valuable because he can operate both as a centre-back and at right-back.

That versatility could make him capable of replacing either Saliba or Timber when required. From an FPL perspective, this is a significant advantage because Konsa would have multiple potential routes into the starting XI rather than being restricted to one position.

Will Ezri Konsa Start Immediately?

This is where things become complicated for FPL managers.

It could be too soon for Konsa to immediately walk into Arsenal's starting XI. Even though Arsenal have paid a substantial fee for him, Arteta may initially prefer players who are already familiar with his system.

At the moment, Konsa's most obvious competition could come from Ben White at right-back and Cristhian Mosquera at centre-back. Therefore, expecting Konsa to start immediately could be overly optimistic.

However, the situation could change quickly once he settles into the squad. Given his quality and experience, it would be easy to imagine Konsa eventually moving ahead of Mosquera in the centre-back pecking order and potentially challenging White for the right-back position.

The £50m Transfer Fee Is Important

One factor FPL managers shouldn't overlook is the size of Arsenal's investment.

A £50m initial fee is significant, particularly for a defender. Arsenal aren't spending that amount simply to have Konsa sit permanently on the bench. Once he has adapted to the club, there should be a strong expectation that he becomes an important part of Arteta's plans.

There is also the possibility that Ben White could leave before the transfer window closes. If that happens, Konsa's FPL appeal would immediately increase because there would be one fewer obstacle to regular minutes.

Even if White stays, his injury record, combined with Jurrien Timber's injury concerns, could work heavily in Konsa's favour. Arsenal's defensive rotation and injuries may provide Konsa with enough opportunities to establish himself.

Is Ezri Konsa a Good FPL Option?

At £4.5m, Konsa is certainly an FPL player worth monitoring, but he isn't someone we would recommend immediately buying.

The problem isn't his ability. Arsenal's defensive strength makes almost any regular starter in their backline potentially attractive, especially at £4.5m. The issue is simply uncertainty over his minutes.

If Konsa eventually becomes a weekly starter, his price could make him an absolutely essential FPL option. A £4.5m defender playing regularly for the Premier League's strongest defensive team would offer enormous value.

For now, though, there are too many moving parts: injuries, White's future, Mosquera's role and Konsa's adaptation to Arteta's system.

Final Verdict: Ignore for Now, But Keep Him on Your Radar

Ezri Konsa is an absolute 'ignore' for now but one to watch very closely.

At £4.5m, his potential upside is enormous, and Arsenal's defensive situation could eventually create the perfect conditions for him to become a regular starter.

For now, FPL managers should wait and see. Arsenal's potential transfer activity in regard to sales, defensive injuries and the pecking order over the coming weeks could transform Konsa from an uncertain signing into one of the most obvious bargain picks in FPL 26/27.
