The 3-1 defeat to Kerala Blasters two weeks ago did not sit well with FC Goa’s fraternity. Against ATK Mohun Bagan, the team put everything on the pitch to bring the joy back. The Gaurs are four points away from the top spot. So far, FC Goa have only failed to score only once this season and saw their defense breached only five times. With only two defeats in six games so far, the side is looking back to their best again after an underwhelming season last time out. The prime contributor to the success has been captain Edu Bedia showing his class in midfield. He has contributed three of the eleven scored by the team including two assists in the two home games played till now. Striker Noah Sadaoui has been sensational too with his fourth strike of the season in the last game coming on as a substitute. Anwar Ali has now risen to his best after his health scare, helping in the attack in this game with two assists. FC Goa will now want the trio to prevail again with a stuttering opposition arriving at Fatorda.
Bengaluru FC are on a four-game winless streak and does not seem to be switching at all with the manager’s tactics. Simon Grayson’s men have dropped to the second-last spot on the table after suffering a crushing 4-0 defeat to Mumbai City FC at Mumbai Football Arena. The Blues had no idea to stop the free-scoring Islanders. The home side scored four goals from five shots on target showing their clinical nature while Bengaluru FC’s three shots attempted between the sticks were unremarkable. They are now left with only four points on board and no wins since their opening game in the league. In the last four games, Bengaluru FC have not managed to score even once which is a striking feature. That is for a team containing some of the top scorers in the league history, Roy Krishna and skipper Sunil Chhetri. Javi Hernandez have also not shown the creativity he is known for. As usual, the pressure on the defense have increased by letting in more goals than ever. All euphoria of new signings and the Durand has gone as the team scrambles to improve from their downward graph. The former ISL winners are also not pleased with the fact they are facing a confident Goa team whom they haven’t won against since 2020. However, they manage to score in all of the meetings so far and that is the only positivity to count on Saturday.
