Goa also needs the win to be in the best position ahead of facing two more gigantic ties next against Mumbai City and Mohun Bagan before facing another playoff contender NorthEast United to end the year.
While Goa maintained their winning habit, Kerala Blasters had to come from behind three times to play out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Chennaiyin FC at Kochi. Dimitrios Diamantakos scored in each half with Kwame Pephrah getting his first goal since joining the club in the summer. Blasters will take the result considering they fell behind within seconds into the match with Rahim Ali giving the away side the lead in the Southern derby. Jordan Murray's first-half brace did not help at the end but the three-time ISL finalists will not be happy with how their defence crumbled without Pritam Kotal from the start. However, Adrian Luna strung all the positive play again for the Tuskers. The Uruguayan’s fourth assist of the season took his goal-contribution tally to seven in eight matches, the best return in the league, with three goals to his name. Blasters maintained their unbeaten run at home but the problem for the leaders has been on the trip. Their first away win in the league in over a year came only last month in the dramatic match against East Bengal. Still, Ivan Vukomanovic’s team will aim to clip Goa’s wings by overturning their record of no wins in Fatorda since 2016 which includes a 3-1 loss last season.
