FPL Assistant Manager Chip

While we are set for Gameweek 24, the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers’ waits are over for the newly launched Assistant Manager Chip, which was earlier named the “Mystery Chip.” Here, we have brought all the key details of the FPL Assistant Manager Chip, which is now available in the Fantasy league.

What is FPL Assistant Manager Chip?

FPL Assistant Manager Chip is available for selection from Gameweek 24 of the Premier League 2024/25 and can be available till the end of the season.

For the FPL app, FPL managers should have the latest version of the app, which was released on Saturday and is available for download, to ensure the chip.

  • By using the FPL Assistant Manager Chip, an FPL manager can use one of the 20 active club managers to earn more points for three straight gameweeks (Check Assistant Manager Chip: Points Scoring more information).

  • While FPL managers can’t use more than three players from the same club (in the 15-member squad), the same rule applies to the FPL Assistant Manager Chip. It means that if an FPL manager utilises the Chip, the FPL manager can choose only two more players from the same club.

  • Each manager of the FPL Assistant Managers has a price of between £0.5 and £1.5, which won’t be changed throughout the season. However, there is no additional budget available for the FPL Assistant Manager Chip. It means that the Assistant Manager's choice will be costed out of the existing budget.

*There is no fear of minus (-) points when using the Assistant Manager Chip, including during any yellow or red card moments.

*Table Bonus (+10): If the selected assistant manager’s team beat a team that is at least five ranks higher in the Premier League points table at the start of the Gameweek, the selected assistant manager will earn 10 more points (excluding the +6 win points).

For example, before the beginning of the FPL 2024/25 Gameweek 24, Liverpool are on top of the points table, and Bournemouth are in seventh place. If an FPL manager selects Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Bournemouth beat Liverpool in the Gameweek 24 clash, the selected FPL Manager will earn a total of 6 points (for a win) +10 points (Table Bonus for beating a + 6 higher ranked team [rank 1 vs rank 7]) + total goal points + if clean sheet points available (2).

*Table Bonus (+5): If the selected assistant manager’s team beat a team that is at least five ranks higher in the Premier League points table at the start of the Gameweek, the assistant manager will bring 5 more points (excluding the +3 draw points).

For example, before the beginning of the FPL 2024/25 Gameweek 24, Liverpool are on top of the points table, and Bournemouth are in seventh place. If an FPL manager selects Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Bournemouth finish the Liverpool match with a draw result in the Gameweek 24 clash, the selected FPL Manager will earn a total of 3 (for a draw) + 5 points (Table Bonus for ending with a draw result against a + 6 higher ranked team [rank 1 vs rank 7]) + total goal points (If available) / + 2 (clean sheet points).

How to play the FPL Assistant Manager Chip?

It is simple. Go to the Transfers tab of the Fantasy page and click on the Assistant Manager button, beside the Wildcard and Free Hit buttons, which will bring up a pop-up, and the FPL manager has to click on Play Chip. By clicking on Play Chip, the Assistant Manager button will show Pending, and a new line will open in the below pitch view, and Players Selected will move to red with 15/16 figures.

Now, the FPL manager has to select a member from the Managers of the Assistant Manager Chip. After selecting the manager, the chip will only be activated after selecting Make Transfer and choosing Confirm Transfers (and Play Assistant Manager). Once the FPL manager confirms the Assistant Manager Chip selection, it can’t be cancelled.

  • Once the FPL Assistant Manager Chip is activated by Confirm Transfers (and Play Assistant Manager), the chip can’t be cancelled. Meanwhile, the chip can be cancelled at any time before clicking on the Confirm Transfers (and Play Assistant Manager).

  • Once the FPL Assistant Manager Chip is activated, it will be continued for three consecutive gameweeks.

  • During the FPL Assistant Manager Chip running period, which is for the three consecutive gameweeks, the FPL manager can’t use the other unused chips (Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost, or Triple Captain). It means that if an FPL manager starts to use the FPL Assistant Manager Chip in Gameweek 24, the other remaining chips of the FPL manager will be unavailable till Gameweek 26. The manager can use the remaining chips from Gameweek 27.

  • During the entire FPL Assistant Manager Chip period, every FPL manager can transfer their manager, just like the transfers of the other players. The transfer will be counted among the available free transfer(s) or cost -4 points in case of unavailability of a free transfer.

  • If the selected Assistant Manager leaves the club, the FPL managers will still score based on the original club’s performance. However, every FPL manager has the scope to transfer the Assistant Manager, except for the selected Manager’s club leaving occurs in the middle of a running gameweek.

  • The Assistant Manager can’t be chosen as captain or vice-captain.
