After yet another surprising and eventful matchday, the Premier League heads into Gameweek 3. It was yet another high-scoring week for the Fantasy Premier League players with an average score of 146. FPL Managers will be looking into their teams and thinking about possible changes to increase their rank as the season progresses.

Here we are with our Top 5 Forward picks for Gameweek 3 who are expected to deliver big hauls.

1. Michail Antonio (£7.7m), West Ham vs Crystal Palace

Michail Antonio, the man in form right now with 3 goals in 2 games, is our first pick in the forwards. After 13 and 16 points haul in the first two games, Antonio has the highest points amongst all the players (29). A home match against the struggling Crystal Palace side provides yet another opportunity for Antonio to increase his goal tally.

Crystal Palace are not expected to put up much fight against the in-form Hammers who are currently leading the Premier League table. Hence, another big haul is expected from Antonio, as they have one of the best fixtures in Gameweek 3. Antonio has become a must-have in every manager’s FPL squads, after being the most transferred player post Gameweek 2.

2. Danny Ings (£8.1m), Aston Villa vs Brentford

Danny Ings has got off to a good start after moving from Southampton this summer. The Englishmen has adjusted well to his new team having already scored 2 in 2 matches. Ings is currently owned by 40.1% of FPL managers, which is the highest amongst all the forwards. Leaving him out can be a risk as he is expected to reward his high ownership one more time in Gameweek 3.

A home game against newly-promoted Brentford is another opportunity for Ings to extend his goalscoring run. Although Brentford has not conceded in the first 2 games, they have conceded 29 shots with 18 of them coming from inside the box. This might be a fixture where they finally concede, and Ings might just be the player to score.

3. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.1m), Brighton vs Everton

Calvert-Lewin has got off in the new season with 2 goals in 2 games under new manager Rafa Benitez. He has been unlucky to not score more goals, having 6 shots on target which is the highest amongst all forwards. Benitez has previously mentioned that his team will supply crosses a lot, which increases the chances of DCL getting on the scoresheet.

Brighton is a relatively tougher side to face, who are yet to lose in the new season. However, goals are expected from the ‘Toffees’ and as seen in previous Gameweeks, Calvert-Lewin will play a part in it. The fact that he is also their number 1 penalty taker, increases the chances of him getting a goal.

4. Jamie Vardy (£10.5m), Norwich vs Leicester

The start of the season has not been kind for Vardy and co. having lost their previous game 4-1 against West Ham. Vardy has not been able to impose himself in the first 2 games, although he did get a goal in the first game. A match against Norwich in Gameweek 3 looks like the perfect fixture for Vardy and Leicester to get their mojo back.

The Canaries have conceded 8 goals in their first 2 games and are expected to concede on the same line against Leicester. Jamie Vardy is a relatively low-owned forward with only 15.1% of FPL managers having him in the team. He can be a great differential option in Gameweek 3, with a relatively easy fixture.

5. Patrick Bamford (£8.0m, Burnley vs Leeds United)

Patrick Bamford was a revelation last season, being one of the most popular FPL picks. However, this season he has been yet to get off the mark after 2 blanks in his first 2 games. The fixture against Burnley looks like the perfect game for Leeds and their focal point Bamford to get back to their high scoring standards.

The Clarets who have lost both of their opening fixtures, look feeble defensively which can play into Leeds attacking gameplay. Bamford is also Leeds’s designated penalty taker, which increases his chances of scoring. He is currently owned by 14,1% of FPL managers, which is relatively low. Bamford can be one of the picks of Gameweek 3 if Leeds gets going.
