fpl tips top 5 midfield picks for gameweek 3

Gameweek 3 is upon us and the FPL managers are getting ready to make the transfers. The start of the FPL season has been high scoring with an average score of 146 in Gameweek 2. New captaincy picks, differential options will be analysed as we go in the season ahead.

Here we are with the Top 5 midfield picks for Gameweek 3:

1. Said Benrahma (£6.3m), West Ham vs Crystal Palace

Said Benrahma has been one of the findings of this season in the Premier League. After his debut PL season last time around, the Algerian is taking the Premier League by storm. This has proved popular with the FPL Managers and those who had him from the first game are reaping the rewards after two 12 points haul.

A home game against Crystal Palace is yet another opportunity to improve on these numbers, and Benrahma has the right form to do so. The midfielder has seen his price rise from 6.0 to 6.3 and has become the most transferred player before Gameweek 3. The highest-scoring FPL midfielder is one of the top midfield picks for this gameweek and the season ahead.

2. Bruno Fernandes (£12.1m), Wolves vs Manchester United

One of the most popular assets for this season’s FPL is the Portuguese Bruno Fernandes. Despite his high price, he has become a must-have in every manager’s team after his exploits last season. He rewarded his owners hugely after a 20-point haul. Although he blanked against Southampton, he will be expected to strike back in gameweek 3

Bruno and United come up against a Wolves side who are yet to win this season. United’s attacking stats and Wolves’ poor defensive record indicate yet another potential chance for a big haul. Leaving Bruno out is a big risk in the season ahead due to his high ownership of 57.7%.

3. Heung-Min Son (£10.1m), Spurs vs Watford

Son had a remarkable season last time around with 17 goals and 11 assists. This season he started with a goal against Manchester City playing in a central position. However, with Kane confirming to stay, it will boost Son’s chances of scoring and assisting in the season ahead. Although he blanked against Wolves, Son is never out of the game and a fixture against newly-promoted Watford gives him a chance to improve his tally.

Most of the FPL managers have gone with Salah and Bruno to kick off the season, however, Son is still owned by 25% of FPL managers. Along with being a top pick for this gameweek, he can also be a differential captain with a home fixture boosting his pick.

4. Raphinha (£6.5m), Burnley vs Leeds United

The Brazilian was one of the popular picks for FPL Managers last season after his impressive display. Bielsa’s Leeds are known for their attacking football so goals are of no shortage. Raphinha along with Bamford got a high share of goals and assists for Leeds. The Brazilian got off the mark this season after a brilliant strike against Everton and looks set for more.

Burnley have had the worst defensive record in the first two games which boosts Raphinha’ s chances to reward his owners. Not only Gameweek 3 but also the fixtures ahead look favourable for Leeds. Hence, getting Raphinha will prove to be a good choice.

5. Pascal Gross (£6.0m), Brighton vs Everton

Pascal Gross is a differential option for Gameweek 3, with the potential to reward the risk-takers. The Brighton midfielder has started the season with 2 assists against Burnley and Watford in the first two gameweeks. Gross is also on set piece duty which makes his inclusion stronger.

The midfielder is very low-owned player at 0.7% and could be set for an impressive gameweek and reward his owners. A home game against Everton is not the easiest of fixtures, however, Everton have not kept clean sheets in their first two games. The struggle for Benitez’s side to defend set-pieces can prove useful for Gross to supply an assist to the dominant Brighton defenders Duffy and Dunk.
