JFC vs HFC Match Preview

Jamshedpur FC conceded their first defeat in the second game of the season going down 1-0 to Kerala Blasters in Kochi. Adrian Luna’s excellent strike made the difference as Men of Steel resistance was finally broken in the 74th minute. Steve Cooper’s men have now gone the first two games of the season after also not scoring in their goalless draw ISL opener against East Bengal. While chances were slightly better than taken at Kolkata with substitute Nongdomaba Noarem almost getting the equalizer only to be denied brilliantly by Sachin Suresh, the attack came short again. Blasters almost entirely dominated the match on home soil and it will be a concern for Jamshedpur FC performing underwhelming in back-to-back away games. The 2021 ISL Shield Winners will be hoping now for a change of fortunes when they play at home for the first time this season against Hyderabad FC. However, the Men of Steels registered just a single victory at the JRD Tata Sports Complex last season. That came a year ago against NorthEast United who finished bottom and also lost this fixture last time.

That was the sole victory Hyderabad FC picked up in their ISL meetings with the Men of Steels otherwise suffering three losses and four draws. They will want to repeat that result to get the first three points of the season after losing to East Bengal in their ISL opener through a worldie free-kick in the dying moments from Cleiton Silva. The Nizams took the lead through Hitesh Sharma at the Salt Lake Stadium but it was cut-off almost immediately by the Red and Gold’s Brazilian forward. Both teams created chances but it was the home side that was clinical on the evening. Defensive mistakes cost Hyderabad FC at least a point from the first game. They would like to improve on that with Chinglensana returning and new signing Oswaldo Alanis getting his first minutes as a substitute. With the sweet memories of their last visit to the JRD Tata Complex, Conor Nestor hopes this new team will show their actual shelf on the pitch and take home the victory. Jamshedpur are winless in their last seven home games while the Nizams carried the second-best away record in the league the previous season.

JFC vs HFC Team News

Jamshedpur FC will miss Imran Khan with a hamstring problem for this fixture while the replacement is being sorted for the injured Petar Sliskovic. For Hyderabad FC, they are unfortunate again to miss goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani probably for a season due to a facial surgery following a reckless challenge from Cleiton Silva which went unpunished. The number one also suffered an ACL tear which kept him out for the majority of last season as well. In his place, Asian Games returnee Gurmeet Singh will start in between the sticks and also Chinglensana who will slot back in the defence. As a case, captain Joao Victor will return to midfield after playing centre-back in the opener.
