Classic Germany, despair for Sweden. That was the story of the crucial Group F encounter between Germany and Sweden. Toni Kroos' late strike in the stoppage time has given Germany the much-needed oxygen as they beat Sweden in a thrilling game at Fisht Stadium, Sochi.

Germany was in a lot of pressure going into the match after losing their opening league game against Mexico. People who follow German football would know that they play their best football when they have their backs to the wall. And as expected Germany started the match like a wounded tiger against Sweden. They dominated the midfield and kept their attack going from both wings. But they weren't able to find the back of the net and gradually the 'tension started building'. Sweden defended doggedly and against the run of play, they took the lead in the 32nd minute of the match when Ola Toivonen finished confidently after Kroos gave the ball away in the midfield.

After receiving some harsh criticism for his team selection in the first match, Loew brought Marco Reus in the starting line up and left out Mesut Ozil on Saturday. The inclusion of Reus paid rich dividends as he equalized in the 48th minute, meeting a low cross from Timo Werner. Other than scoring the goal, Reus had a terrific game overall and despite having Jerome Boateng sent off in the 82nd minute, Germany found their winner from Kroos. This win will give Loew's side a much-needed boost going ahead into the tournament.

Three teams from this group could get 6 points each at the end of their respective league matches if Germany beat South Korea and Sweden does the same against Mexico in their last league game. It will be a thrilling last round with all the teams having an equal chance to qualify for the next round 'of' the competition.
