It is that time of the year when football fever grips the soccer fans all over the world. You guessed it right I am talking about the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’, 2018, FIFA World Cup. As Russia gearing up to host the showbiz event, let's take a look at one of the most iconic stadiums in the world. The Luzhniki Stadium, previously known as the Lenin Stadium. Established in the year 1956, back then it was the national stadium of Soviet Union and now it is the national stadium of Russia.


Located in one of the most picturesque areas of the Russian Capital, Moscow. The Moskova River flows right alongside the stadium, makes it look even prettier and there is a cable-car connecting the two. After reconstruction, it can hold up to 81,000 spectators. It is the biggest stadium in Russia. Over the years it has hosted lots of important sporting events. It has successfully hosted the 1980 Summer Olympics and 2008 UEFA Champions League final respectively. For the first time, The FIFA World Cup is going to be held in eastern part of Europe.



The Luzhniki Stadium is the main stadium of 2018 FIFA World Cup. It will host seven matches including the inaugural and the final match of the tournament. It will be a moment of joy for the people of Russia, when their national team will play the opening match against the Saudi Arabia at the historic venue on June 14th, 2018. One round-off-16 match and a semi-final will also be played at this iconic venue. The stadium is well equipped with all the modern facilities.
