On 22 February 2019, FIFA announced in an official statement that Chelsea has been handed a transfer ban for two windows. This, in simpler terms, means that no signing of players until the ban is lifted. They can sell as much as they want to. The ban has been imposed upon Chelsea because there have been reports of Chelsea breaching the guidelines to sign foreign players under 18 years of age. Although they can appeal against this ban and thus will be looking to get the ban reduced to one transfer window at least just like Real Madrid.

The club is all set to sack Maurizio Sarri in the summer and the new manager will have a young squad at his disposal. Chelsea has as much as 41 players loaned which include the likes of full-time internationals like Kurt Zouma and Tiemoue Bakayoko. Their newest signing Christian Pulisic finds himself in this list too. He remains at Borussia Dortmund for the rest of the season. A lot has been written about the stubbornness of Sarri and how he puts the same eleven week-in-week-out. But with no player set to join them in the upcoming months, some of the youngers could be coming to the forefront for the club.

Here is the list of top 5 players who could flourish at Chelsea due to their transfer ban:

Tammy Abraham: Goal Scoring has been a point of major concern for Chelsea for the second successive year. They rely heavily on the talismanic Eden Hazard for creating as well as scoring important goals. At the start of the season, they only had two full-time strikers. A misfiring Morata and Oliver Giroud who came to full effect only when substituted late in games. And what did Chelsea do to resolve this issue? They send Tammy Abraham to Aston Villa on a season-long loan. It was one of the most shocking transfers in the summer! And he hit the ground running for Aston Villa. Scoring 20 goals in 28 appearances averaging a goal every 121 minutes. With no striker coming in the next two transfer windows, he is set to join the blues in the summer.

Mason Mount: Mason Mount has been one of the brightest prospects in their academy for some years now. The 20-year-old is out on loan at Derby County under Frank Lampard. Playing as a central midfielder, he has scored four times already while also assisting twice in the meanwhile. His most noticeable contribution came in the 2-2 draw against United in the Carabao Cup. He scored a penalty to see his side through 10-9 on penalties. With Kovacic set to depart at the end of the season, there is only Ross Barkley, Loftus-Cheek and Mount to compete for the place next season.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek: The outstanding talent of Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been well-known for the last two years at least. His most prolific campaign came last year only where he flourished at Crystal Palace. But he has found game time hard to come by. With only 9 starts in this entire campaign, he has looked bright every time he is given a chance. He has scored three times in 374 minutes in the Premier League while also having a hat trick under his name against BATE Borisov in the UEFA Europa League in October. With the transfer ban coming up, it could prove to be a blessing in disguise for the 23-year-old midfielder.

Ethan Ampadu: One of the most highly rated youngsters to come out of the ranks of Chelsea is Ethan Ampadu. He is currently not on loan to any other side but makes the bench quite often than not. He also has game time hard to come by. He has just appeared five times under Sarri with three of them being in the Europa League while the other two being FA Cup appearances. He can play both as a central defender as well as a holding midfielder. With Chelsea's defence leaking goals on regular intervals, he will have his chance for sure in the next term. And could be a competition for both Luiz and Rudiger.

Reece James: César Azpilicueta had been rock solid in defence under Antonio Conte. He posted a great threat going forward too. But his form has dipped lately. With Davide Zappacosta failing to impress until now, Reece James could have a future at Chelsea. The 18-year-old full-back is currently out on loan to Championships side Wigan where he has scored once and assisted twice. He was awarded the ‘Man of the Month’ award in September. Let's see how he performs next season!

Although they showed great promise while playing for the B-teams, are they ready enough for the first-team remains a doubt?
