Alvaro Daniel Rodríguez Muñoz is a promising young footballer who was born on 14 July 2004 in Palamós, Spain. He is the child of a Spanish mother and former Uruguayan international player Coquito. Alvaro currently competes for Uruguay at the youth international level as a striker for Real Madrid Castilla.

 

Football career:

 

At the age of six, Alvaro joined the local academy C.F. Global Palamós to begin his childhood career. Before joining the Girona FC youth program, he spent a year at CEF Gironès-Sàbat. Alvaro joined La Fábrica at Real Madrid after spending five years at Girona, and he later won the 2022 Copa del Rey Juvenil.

 

Alvaro debuted for Real Madrid Castilla on October 24, 2021, as a substitute in a 3-1 loss against Atlético Sanluqueo after making an impression with the Juvenil teams. On January 8, 2022, against FC Andorra, he would make his first start for the reserve team and tally his first goal as a professional. On October 22, 2022, Alvaro earned his first call-up to the senior team. He sat on the bench as his team defeated Sevilla 3-1 in La Liga. On January 3, 2023, he made his senior squad debut in a 1-0 Copa del Rey victory against Cacereo.

 

On February 19, 2023, Alvaro made his La Liga debut for Real Madrid in a 2-0 victory over Osasuna, providing the late assist after another was flagged for offside. He scored his first La Liga goal in a 1-1 tie with Atlético Madrid on February 25.


National Team career:

 

Alvaro, who was born in Spain but has a father from Uruguay, is qualified to represent both nations internationally. He was a member of Spain's under-18 team at the Mediterranean Games in 2022. He participated in all three contests and contributed a goal to the team's last-place finish in their group. Alvaro formally pledged his international future to the Uruguayan national team on August 22, 2022.

 

Playing Style:

 

Alvaro is a left-footed centre-forward who can also play out wide and is noted for his height. He excels in both his mobility and his reading of the game, as Marca has emphasized. Alvaro makes effective space assaults and gives midfielders strong runs. He exhibits the Uruguayan work ethic by putting in endless effort and not being scared to challenge his team.
