In the 2022–23 UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match, Real Madrid and Chelsea will square off. In what could be a thrilling match between two of the greatest clubs in Europe, the two sides have been paired against one another. The Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid will host the first leg of the match on April 12, 2023, while Stamford Bridge in London will host the second game on April 18, 2023. Real Madrid enters the contest fresh off a resounding victory over Liverpool, while Chelsea advanced to the round of eight with a comfortable victory over Dortmund.

With players like Karim Benzema, Vinicius Jr., and Luka Modric among their main players, Real Madrid has a potent team. Its defence is strong, and Militao, who has extensive experience in European championships, serves as its centre. Chelsea, however, hasn't been playing well this year. Yet, they have a strong offence, with players like Kai Havertz and Joao Felix in the forefront. Real Madrid and Chelsea's showdown promises to be an exciting contest between two elite clubs.

Then, in the 96th minute, Karim Benzema, who had scored three goals in the first leg at Chelsea Bridge six days earlier, headed the winning goal to advance Real 5-4 on the night.

However, they were able to build on the 1-1 draw they achieved in Madrid when Timo Werner headed in from almost on the goal-line in the 28th minute after Kai Havertz had lofted a finish over the bar. Thomas Tuchel's hosts were grateful to custodian Edouard Mendy for two fine first-half saves from Karim Benzema. Mason Mount scored the other goal for the Blues.
