Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes is reportedly a transfer target for Bayern and PSG, according to a new report. Bruno Fernandes has arguably been the best player in the Premier League this season, and would undoubtedly be the main reason why United might end up with Champions League football after the league campaign despite the team as a collective being quite underwhelming.
A look at Bruno Fernandes' stats this season in the Premier League shows us how outstanding he's been for the Red Devils. In just 28 games, the Manchester United captain has scored 8 goals and assisted another 16. Not only are these incredible numbers, but when you consider the fact he played the majority of the season in a No. 8 midfield role under Ruben, his stats are simply extraordinary.
Bayern Munich and PSG want Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United
A report from CaughtOffside mentions that Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is emerging as a major transfer target for big clubs, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested in securing the Portuguese midfielder. While United’s official stance remains that he is not for sale, internal discussions suggest the club could consider offers as part of a broader squad rebuild.
Interest in Fernandes is not new, with reports dating back to December indicating that United were open to selling him to fund new midfield reinforcements. That interest has only grown, with top European clubs continuing to monitor his situation closely. However, despite Bayern and PSG’s admiration, a move to the Saudi Pro League is currently seen as the most realistic outcome due to the financial power involved.
A key factor influencing United’s thinking is Fernandes’ age. Approaching 32, there are concerns within the club about a potential decline in performance in the coming seasons. Comparisons have been drawn to Mohamed Salah’s recent dip in form, with United keen to avoid holding onto a player past his peak value.
Additionally, Fernandes himself is expected to receive lucrative offers, particularly from Saudi clubs, which could complicate United’s efforts to retain him. There is a growing belief that if the player’s focus shifts due to these opportunities, the club may find it difficult to justify resisting a high-value transfer.
Overall, while Fernandes remains a central figure at Manchester United, the combination of external interest, financial considerations, and long-term planning means his future at the club is far from certain.
Our opinion
If we were in Manchester United's position, Bruno Fernandes would not be for sale at any price. He's been nothing less than sensational this season for the Red Devils, and is one of those special players you can't even find a direct replacement for. Unless the player puts in a transfer request, we wouldn't be selling him no matter what.
