UCL team of the week: matchday 5

Goalkeeper

Mark Flekken (Leverkusen)

Although it was against Manchester City's B team for most of the game, Flekken was simply brilliant against Pep Guardiola's side. In fact, he made a total of 8 saves in the match.

Defenders

Jurrien Timber (Arsenal)

After Gabriel, Jurrien Timber has arguably been Arsenal's best defender this season. He has indeed made an epic comeback from what was a career-threatening ACL Injury. His goal helped Arsenal in their 3-1 victory over Bayern.

José Giménez (Atlético Madrid)

Atlético Madrid ended up earning all 3 points in the death against Inter Milan, and it was all thanks to their defender José Giménez. He was solid both in defense and offensive set-pieces against the Nerazzurri.

Willian Pacho (PSG)

PSG vs Tottenham was nothing less than a rollercoaster ride that ended with a total of 8 goals. Pacho scored the goal that broke Spurs hearts and made sure PSG had a comfortable lead.

Marc Cucurella (Chelsea)

Cucurella proved to everyone why he is one of the best left-backs in the world against Barcelona, as Lamine Yamal had no answer to the defensive brilliance of his Spanish teammate.

Midfielders

Vitinha (PSG)

Vitinha had one of the most legendary performances for PSG against Spurs, which resulted in a career first hat-trick that he'll probably never forget. PSG arguably have the best midfielder in the world right now, and he could help them regain their Champions League title.

Moises Caicedo (Chelsea)

Moises Caicedo has officially reached world-class levels at Chelsea, and he has silenced everyone he labelled him a flop. He was absolutely phenomenal in midfield against Barcelona, and helped Chelsea control the game.

Declan Rice (Arsenal)

There are no words left for us to describe the brilliance of Declan Rice. The fact he is making his £105 million transfer fee look like a bargain is the biggest compliment we could give him. He was excellent against Bayern.

Forwards

Estêvão (Chelsea)

Estêvão vs Lamine Yamal was one of the major headlines before Chelsea vs Barcelona, and it ended with the Brazilian having the final laugh. His goal was outstanding as well. Chelsea undoubtedly have a special player in their hand who looks destined to achieve great things.

Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid)

The prophecy that Kylian Mbappe will be the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid is slowly coming true with each passing game. Mbappe put up a legendary performance that he'll always remember, as he finished the game against Olympiacos with an unbelievable 4 goals.

Couhaib Driouech (PSV)

Couhaib Driouech is the only player included in this UCL team of the week who just barely played for 21 minutes. That's all that was needed to score a brace against Arne Slot's Liverpool side, the Champions of England. Enough said.
