Dastan Satpayev - The Future Chelsea Star's Career so Far

Born in Almaty, Dastan Satpayev joined the FC Kairat academy at just eight years old and quickly emerged as one of Kazakhstan’s brightest young talents. He first grabbed attention in the youth QJ League, where he delivered an outstanding return of 27 goals and 10 assists in 28 matches across the 2023 and 2024 seasons. His performances earned him the Most Valuable Player award in 2024, while he also gained senior exposure with Kairat’s reserve side and even found the net in the UEFA Youth League.


Satpayev made his senior first-team debut for Kairat on 26 May 2024, coming off the bench in a dominant 9–0 League Cup win. His rapid rise continued in February 2025, when Kairat confirmed an agreement for him to join Chelsea. The transfer, reportedly worth €4 million, is set to be completed in August 2026, once he turns 18.


He announced himself in the Kazakh top flight on 2 March 2025, scoring on his league debut in a draw against FC Astana. From there, Satpayev quickly became a regular presence in the league and one of the country’s most exciting prospects, with the media praising him immensely.


On the European stage, he continued to make history. In July 2025, he scored in a Champions League qualifier against NK Olimpia, becoming the youngest Kazakh to play and score in a UEFA club competition. Later that season, he featured against Sporting CP, setting another age record, before netting his first Champions League goal against FC Copenhagen, becoming the first Kazakh player to score in the competition.


Dastan Satpayev has risen quickly on the international stage as well with the Kazakhstan national football team. He first represented his country at under-17 level in October 2023, scoring four goals in ten matches and eventually earning the captain’s armband, underlining his leadership at a young age.


His rapid progress was rewarded in March 2025 with a first senior call-up. Satpayev made history on 19 March, debuting in a friendly win over Curaçao at just 16 years, 7 months and 10 days, becoming the youngest player ever to represent Kazakhstan’s senior team. Days later, he featured in a World Cup qualifying game, coming on against Wales to set another national age record as the youngest Kazakh to play in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.


He capped off a remarkable year on 15th November, scoring the opening goal in a qualifier against Belgium. At 17 years, 3 months and 3 days, Satpayev became Kazakhstan’s youngest goalscorer , further cementing his status as one of the nation’s most exciting football prospects.
