Decisive weekend in Serie A top-four chase

The top four chase in Serie A is heating up. With only two game weeks to go, nothing is taken for granted. All the sides involved need to confirm their place with a victory moving towards the end of the season. Most probably, this weekend will end all the speculation of the teams finishing in the Champions League standings.

1) Genoa vs Atalanta

Atalanta have shown their known ruthless nature yet again this campaign and deserve Champions League football for the third time. They know a win over Genoa will do this weekend to confirm their stay in the top four. La Dea comfortably dispatched relegation candidates Parma and Benevento in the previous two fixtures. Beating Genoa won't be a problem considering the Rossoblù have nothing to play for and have been inconsistent. Atalanta are also very much in the driving seat to finish second in the league so they will be up for it.

2) Milan vs Cagliari

The Rossoneri are flying at the moment. After overturning their series of bad performances with a thrilling 3-0 win over Juventus in Turin, their first in ten years at the venue, AC Milan thrashed lowly Torino 7-0 in midweek. Thrilling attacking display with a more disciplined form of football has cruised them to these crucial wins. They will be desperate to get back to the Champions League stage after a long absence with three points against Cagliari. However, they won't be easy to offload. Cagliari are one win away from guaranteeing their survival in the top flight. Although they can do it against Genoa on the last day of the season, upsetting Milan can be their choice too.

3) Fiorentina vs Napoli

As question marks hang over Genaro Gattuso's future with Napoli, the Italian manager will be desperate to complete his objective for this season first. Napoli made a steady comeback this season in the last couple of months and are unbeaten in the last seven games before facing Fiorentina in a pivotal clash this weekend. Champions League football beckons for them and also a chance to resist Juventus to move into the top four places. Their attacks have been lethal for most of the campaign.  On the other hand, Fiorentina have nothing to play for but are adamant to snatch points from top sides as they did against Lazio last weekend. La Viola have also upset Juventus on the road and are fighting to end the season on a good note in an otherwise poor season for them.

4) Juventus vs Inter Milan

The big one. Juventus's hope for Champions League football next season hangs on this game and it's the Derby d'Italia. Inter Milan are the first side to end Juve's dominance on the Scudetto for ten years and will be wishing to inflict further damage to their arch-rivals this weekend. Juventus have to take all three points from the fixture to stay in the hunt or else a defeat and a Napoli win against Fiorentina will drown all their chances. It's been a season to forget for Bianconeri with their dominance ending and ending badly. The last thing they want is to miss out on Champions League football and end up losing major stars of the team like a certain Cristiano Ronaldo. Inter will have no sympathy for their rivals and will make a statement for the next season with a win. So, this will be some game to watch.
