The latest news is that Dro Fernandez is leaving Barca, as he had informed the club of his desire to leave this January by exercising his €6 million ($7m) release clause. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick in particular is believed to be quite upset that the player is leaving.


Dro Fernandes, Born in Spain, was widely believed to renew his contract with Barcelona and develop into a superstar that would make both his club and country proud. In fact, He turned 18 this week and celebrated with a cake, given to him by teammate Raphinha, on the flight back from Sunday's Spanish Supercopa final win against Real Madrid.

Dro Fernandez came through Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, earning a reputation as one of its brightest young talents. In July 2025, coach Hansi Flick selected him for the club’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, giving the teenager his first taste of senior football. He marked the occasion in style, coming off the bench to score in the 87th minute and secure a 3–1 win over Vissel Kobe. Dro made his official competitive debut on 28 September in a 2–1 La Liga victory against Real Sociedad. On 21 October, he stepped onto the European stage, providing an assist on his Champions League debut as Barcelona thrashed Olympiacos 6–1.


The expectation from the club was that Dro would continue his brilliant development at the club and eventually become a superstar for Barcelona, which sadly for them, won't be happening now.


Dro Fernandez leaving Barca: What's next for the player?

Earlier reports had mentioned that the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City were leading the race for Dro Fernandez. However, Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that PSG have offered a contract to Dro Fernandez, with the French club pushing to sign the 18-year-old midfielder, with talks already underway over his €6M release clause.


Whether it's PSG or at any other top club Dro Fernandez ends up joining from Barcelona, one thing is for certain, and that is the Spanish attacking midfielder is destined to make it big in the years to come.
