England will play one Euro qualifier with Ukraine in an away clash before travelling again to face Scotland in Hampden Park. The squad has some surprise inclusions and exclusions with manager Gareth Southgate once again keeping faith in players fallen out of pecking orders at their club. The Three Lions are sitting comfortably at the top of their qualifying table and will be wanting to keep their winning run going.

England 7-0 North Macedonia

 

In the qualifiers played in June, England were ruthless against Malta away and North Macedonia at home. Thrashing them 4-0 and 7-0 respectively. Harry Kane with five goals and Bukayo Saka with four are leading the scoring charts in qualifiers with both being instrumental in the last two victories. Voted PFA Young Player of the Year, Saka also scored his first England hat-trick in the rout against North Macedonia.

Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling has not been called up to the squad despite starting the season brilliantly. Gareth Southgate admitted the winger was not happy with being overlooked but the England manager said he did not want to change anyone from the group that was called up for the last international window. Especially the attackers whom he believes do not warrant to be left out. Manchester United’s Harry Maguire remained in the books despite being out of favour in his club. While Jordan Henderson makes the squad after his controversial move to Saudi Arabia. Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips keeps his place. Chelsea's Levi Colwill and Eddie Nketiah of Arsenal will be looking for their senior team debut after impressing for their club and age levels of the national team. Captain Harry Kane will be making the England squad playing out of the country for the first time.

Scotland vs England - Hampden Park, Glasgow (00:15)


England will take on Ukraine in their fifth match of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. They beat them in the reverse fixture 2-0 at Wembley Stadium with Kane and Saka getting on the scoresheet. The Three Lions will next play their rivals Scotland at Hampden Park in a friendly. The last meeting between the pair ended 0-0 in the 2020 Euro Championship played in 2021. England have also not lost this fixture since the turn of the century.
