Paris Saint-Germain finally secured their first Ligue 1 victory of the 2026/27 season, beating Brest 1-0 at the Stade Francis-Le Blé. Ferran Torres once again proved decisive, scoring after just five minutes to give the defending champions an early lead. The Spanish forward finished a rapid move involving João Neves and Ousmane Dembélé, with the latter providing the crucial assist.
PSG dominated possession with 59%, completing 642 passes compared with Brest's 443, while also registering 14 shots to the hosts' 11. However, Brest created serious problems after the interval, forcing goalkeeper Matvey Safonov into several important saves as Luis Enrique's side desperately protected their narrow advantage.
For Torres, though, the victory was another landmark moment in his spectacular start to life in Paris.
Ferran Torres Equals Ibrahimovic's Record
Torres has now scored six goals in his first five appearances for PSG across all competitions, matching one of the most impressive starts in the club's history.
The only other player to reach six goals across his first five matches for PSG is legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Torres has therefore immediately placed himself alongside one of the greatest goalscorers ever to represent the French giants.
His latest goal also saw him move clear of another PSG icon. Neymar scored five goals in his first five matches for the club, meaning Torres' sixth goal has taken him beyond the Brazilian's tally.
The comparison is particularly remarkable considering Torres only arrived at PSG this summer. His explosive beginning had already seen him score a hat-trick in PSG's 6-1 Champions League victory over Slovan Bratislava, making him the first player in the club's history to score a Champions League hat-trick on his debut in the competition for PSG.
Dembélé-Torres Connection Delivering
Dembele's growing connection with Torres will be vital for PSG this season as Luis Enrique's side will look to win a third straight Champions League Title. The pair previously played together at Barcelona, and Dembélé has already praised Torres' movement and finishing ability. PSG may still be searching for their best form, but their new Spanish forward & Superstar Frenchman is certainly providing plenty of reasons for optimism.
