The January transfer window is just around the corner and Premier League managers will be working tirelessly to complete their squads ahead of the second half of the season. As well taking the chance to make additions to squads, there will also inevitably be plenty of departures.  Here’s five Premier League players you’ve probably forgotten about that could be on the move this January.

Demarai Gray

Leicester continue to impress in the Premier League and currently find themselves sitting 2nd in the table. Jamie Vardy, Harvey Barnes and James Maddison have all been terrorising defences, but one man you may have forgotten about is Demarai Gray.

The winger was one of the hottest prospects in English football and has made 132 Premier League appearances scoring 10 goals, but has found game time limited this season, making just one appearance for Leicester in the EFL Cup.

It looks inevitable that Demarai Gray will move on this transfer window with his contract expiring at the end of the season. There are a number of potential suitors including Newcastle, Everton and perhaps surprisingly Tottenham.

Fabian Delph

Another player from a team flying high in the Premier League, Fabian Delph could be on the move this transfer window after limited playing time due to injury issues. It was always going to be a gamble for Everton signing Delph and that gamble doesn’t appear to have paid off and reports claim The Toffees could cash in on the midfielder with Burnley reported to be eyeing up a bid for Delph.

Everton’s season continues to be a strong one and Delph has played little part in that, with Doucoure and Allan impressing in central midfield. It remains to be seen whether Everton will cut their losses with Delph but a move may be best for club and player.

Sergio Romero

The Argentinian international joined Manchester United in 2015 to battle it out for the #1 spot at Old Trafford with David de Gea. A battle Romero has lost badly.

Now in his sixth season at Old Trafford, Romero has made just 7 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils.

Romero now finds himself even further down the pecking order behind De Gea and Dean Henderson and with just 6 months left on his United contract it looks odds on that Romero will be on his way out of Manchester with David Beckham’s Inter Miami considering a move for the Argentinian.

Mesut Ozil

It’s almost unthinkable to imagine Mesut Ozil being forgotten about but the German wizard is so far away from making an appearance for Arsenal, that may just have happened.

Mesut Ozil has been completely frozen out by Mikel Arteta, with the German being left out of the confirmed Premier League squad for the first half of the season. There are calls to bring Ozil back into the Arsenal team from January but this seems doubtful and would require a major U-turn from Arteta.

Arsenal have had a shocking start to the season with the North London outfit just 4 points off the relegation places at Christmas. Although they are still predicted to finish well clear of the dreaded dotted line come May in the sports spread betting at Sporting Index.

Ozil is reported to be earning £350,000 a week and Arsenal may want to cash in on the former Real Madrid star before his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Phil Jones

Phil Jones has made 200 Premier League appearances for Manchester United in a career at Old Trafford approaching its tenth year. The defender hasn’t made a single Premier League appearance for United this season and an exit looms for the stalwart. The 28-year-old will bring a wealth of experience to a team in the Premier League or the Championship.

The rumour mill is already in full flow and Phil Jones has been linked with moves to West Brom and Derby County. Moves to either club could have substance, with Phil Jones coming through the Blackburn academy when Allardyce was manager. Phil Jones would also fit the bill of a typical physical Allardyce player.

A move to Derby, although most likely on loan would reunite Phil Jones with former United teammate Wayne Rooney and he may be able to persuade Jones to drop down a division and potentially take a cut in wages.
