Harry Kane Close to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League Record

Bayern Munich were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by Viking in the UEFA Champions League, despite Harry Kane scoring twice to inspire a second-half comeback. Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Bayern fought back through Kane’s penalty and header before Luis Díaz put the German giants ahead. However, Herman Johan Haugen’s late equaliser denied Bayern all three points.

Despite the disappointing result, Kane had another reason to celebrate, extending his remarkable Champions League scoring streak and moving closer to breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic record.

Harry Kane Equals Champions League Scoring Streak Record

Kane has now scored in nine consecutive UEFA Champions League matches, equalling the second-longest scoring streak in the competition’s history. The England captain has joined an elite group featuring Robert Lewandowski and Ruud van Nistelrooy, who have also scored in nine successive Champions League games.

The all-time record, however, remains with Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored in 11 consecutive Champions League matches during Real Madrid’s successful 2017/18 campaign.

Here is the record for consecutive Champions League appearances with a goal:

11 matches — Cristiano Ronaldo

9 matches — Harry Kane

9 matches — Robert Lewandowski

9 matches — Ruud van Nistelrooy

Kane is now just two matches away from matching Ronaldo’s record and three away from surpassing it.

Can Harry Kane Break Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League Record?

Ronaldo established his extraordinary streak across the 2017 Champions League final and the following season’s campaign, scoring 17 goals during that run. His achievement remains one of the competition’s most remarkable individual records.

Kane’s current run demonstrates his outstanding consistency in front of goal since joining Bayern Munich. His ability to deliver against European opposition has made him a crucial figure in Bayern’s pursuit of continental success.

The striker’s brace against Viking has brought him within touching distance of a historic milestone. If he scores in his next two Champions League appearances, Kane will equal Ronaldo’s record before having the opportunity to surpass it.

With Bayern continuing their European campaign, all eyes will be on Kane as he attempts to write another chapter in Champions League history.
