A player who's playing at such an extraordinary level will undoubtedly be a huge miss for any club in such an important fixture, even if you're a club like Bayern Munich. So will Harry Kane play against Real Madrid? Scroll down to check out the latest news regarding his fitness

The latest Harry Kane fitness update

Sky Germany has reported that Harry Kane remains a major doubt ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid, but there is growing belief he could still feature.

The 32-year-old striker recently missed Bayern’s Bundesliga fixture against SC Freiburg after picking up an ankle injury during the international break with England. Since then, Kane has been working hard on his recovery, spending the Easter weekend training individually at Säbener Straße.

Encouragingly for Bayern, Kane took part in the team’s final training session on Monday ahead of their crucial trip to Madrid. While no final decision has been made on his availability, there is cautious optimism within the club that he could be fit enough to start.

Sporting director Max Eberl highlighted the efforts being made behind the scenes, stating that the medical team is working intensively with Kane and expressing confidence that he may be ready in time. Head coach Vincent Kompany echoed that sentiment, admitting he has a “feeling” the striker will be available.

Teammate Joshua Kimmich sounded even more certain, joking that Kane would play “in a wheelchair” if necessary, underlining the squad’s belief in his determination to be involved.

Before Bayern’s departure to Madrid, Eberl confirmed that Kane had done everything possible in his recovery and was able to train with the team. However, the final call on whether he starts will rest with Kompany.

For now, Bayern can take comfort in the fact that their star striker has at least rejoined the squad at a crucial moment, boosting hopes that he could still play a part in one of their biggest matches of the season.

Our opinion

Considering what was mentioned in the report above, it does look like Harry Kane will start the game against Real Madrid for Bayern Munich. Although the German have been way stronger than Los Blancos this season and look like the favorites to win, the truth is that Real Madrid are always a different beast in the Champions League and underestimating them would be the worst mistake any club could make. Thus, the presence of a player like Harry Kane in a game like this would be significant for the Bavarians, and we certainly expect him to start this game.
