Starting the qualification process with a 9-0 home win against Seychelles, the Elephants continued their top performances in most games, including beating Seychelles by 7–0 at their home.
With eight wins and two draws, Ivory Coast just managed to finish on top of Group F with 26 points. Meanwhile, the second-placed Gabon managed 25 points after recording eight victories, one draw, and one defeat. The most interesting part for the Ivory Coast in the qualification process was they scored 25 goals but didn’t concede a single goal.
