Qatar, who hosted the FIFA World Cup 2022, have qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026 to experience their consecutive World Cup journey. The Maroon One, recent back-to-back Asian Cup champions, moved to the fourth round to successfully qualify for the 2026 WC edition.
Qatar started the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualification (AFC) journey from the Second Round Group A. They had to fight with Afghanistan, India, and Kuwait, where Qatar dominated with five wins and one draw to comfortably advance to the third round after scoring 15 goals, while conceding three.
In the third round, Qatar participated in Group A, where their opponents were the United Arab Emirates, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, and Uzbekistan. Qatar ultimately finished in the fourth place in that group with 13 points after four wins, one draw, and five losses.
In the fourth round, Qatar faced Oman and the United Arab Emirates in Group A. After a goalless draw against Oman, hosts Qatar defeated the UAE by 2-1 to book their tickets for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
