How Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho would fit in at Manchester United

Manchester United is making a big splash in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils have agreed to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and Real Madrid central defender Raphael Varane in a summer in which numerous prominent teams have yet to make a key move. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that the club's ambition has been demonstrated by the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Sancho has finalized his transfer from Borussia Dortmund, and Varane is expected to arrive from Real Madrid soon, pending a medical. Sancho is a fantastic ball carrier and dribbler who, unlike any other current United player, can run at opponents in a variety of ways, creating space for his teammates. Sancho can play on both the left and right-wing, offering Solskjaer options when putting together a lineup. Varane's presence allows United to be more aggressive because of his pace at the back, which aids Harry Maguire. Here we take a look at how Solskjaer could fit in Varane and Sancho in the starting lineup for the upcoming season.

Goalkeeper – Daen Henderson

Last season, David de Gea made 36 starts for Manchester United, while Dean Henderson made 25, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confessed that the combination is unsustainable. In March and April, Henderson was United's Premier League goalkeeper for eight games, but De Gea started the Europa League final after appearing in both the quarter-final and semi-final legs. But with De Gea’s form going down, Dean Henderson could become the undisputed starter for United with De Gea as his backup.

Defenders – Aaron Wan Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw

Wan-Bissaka has been mainly excellent in his two seasons and 100 games so far, but he isn't a guarantee to start. He, like any other young football player with barely three complete seasons under his belt, has shortcomings. United are in the market for Atletico Madrid right-back Keiran Trippier but if that move fails, Wan Bissaka is more than enough to start as the right-back. Varane has three La Liga trophies and four Champions League trophies to his name in his illustrious career. With 79 caps for France, he now has a World Cup winner's medal to add to his collection. While Varane's technical ability is undeniable, the prospect of him playing with United captain Harry Maguire has piqued the interest of every football fan. Varane and Maguire are both 28 years old and United may reap the benefits of their prospective collaboration for at least the next four-five years. Luke Shaw had a brilliant Euros campaign and he will be in top form ahead of the new season.

Midfielders – Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes

Paul Pogba has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer as PSG has come calling. On the other side, the Red Devils are heavily linked with Camavinga and Declan Rice to bolster their defensive midfield position. But for now, Scott McTominay would get the nod as a starter for the number 6 position. Scott McTominay would be a key component in United's deep-lying midfield options in front of the defense, and he can build a strong connection with Paul Pogba, allowing United to get the most out of their World Cup-winning midfielder. Bruno Fernandes, United's best player last season, would have more attacking freedom, while Pogba would be able to make an impact in a role that allows him to transition defense into attack.

Forwards – Jadon Sancho, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford

Sancho is a natural fit on the right side of the attacking three in the attacking third. There is depth in the attack with Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial for rotation and alterations. While Sancho can play on either wing, Solskjaer will start him on right. Marcus Rashford had a fantastic season last year, but he has revealed that he was out for a major portion of the season due to injuries. He will be out for some games at the start of the Premier League campaign but United have Martial, Diallo, and Greenwood, who can cover up for him. Cavani will be the undisputed starter next season. Sancho and Greenwood's development will continue to be aided by Cavani's expertise, and another year of training together will be beneficial to the youngsters.
