A new report from Florian Plettenberg confirms major interest in PSG star Ibrahim Mbaye by several Premier League clubs, especially Chelsea and Aston Villa. The 17 year old French is widely seen as one of the most exciting youngsters in world football at the moment. Mbaye has already made a total of 14 appearances for Luis Enrique's Paris Saint-Germain side this season in Ligue 1.

PSG Transfer News: Mbaye to Chelsea one to watch out for

Florian Plettenberg has reported that several Premier League clubs are interested in signing Ibrahim Mbaye before the transfer deadline, with Chelsea and Aston Villa closely monitoring the situation. However, Paris Saint-Germain have no intention of selling the highly rated 18-year-old winger, who is under contract until 2028, and are even considering offering him a new deal.

PSG Star Ibrahim Mbaye's career so far

Ibrahim Mbaye’s rise has been fast and eye-catching. He began playing football at ES Guyancourt in 2013, moved to Versailles two years later, and by the age of 10 had already joined the Paris Saint-Germain academy in 2018.

At just 16, Mbaye played a key role in PSG’s under-19 team winning the Championnat National U19 title in the 2023–24 season. He scored in the semi-final against Olympique de Marseille and set up a goal in the final, showing maturity beyond his years.

His performances caught the eye of first-team coach Luis Enrique, earning him a pre-season call-up in July 2024. Mbaye made an instant impression, scoring in a friendly against Sturm Graz and starting again versus RB Leipzig, with Enrique openly praising his displays.

In August 2024, Mbaye made his official Ligue 1 debut against Le Havre, becoming the youngest player ever to start a match for PSG. He signed his first professional contract in early 2025 and soon added more milestones: a Coupe de France debut, his first senior goal against Saint-Étienne, and record-breaking appearances on the global stage.

By mid-2025, Mbaye had become the youngest Frenchman to play in the FIFA Club World Cup, and later that summer, the youngest ever winner of the UEFA Super Cup as PSG defeated Tottenham Hotspur. Still only 17, Mbaye is already making history and is widely seen as one of PSG’s most exciting young talents.

Will Mbaye Leave PSG This January Transfer Window?

The Florian Plettenberg report has already stated that PSG do not want to sell their highly-rated French Prodigy. However, everything could change if Mbaye ends up giving a transfer request before the end of the window. Moreover, there's a chance that a club like Aston villa could end up signing the player on a short-term loan deal with no buy option if the player wants to get more minutes and PSG are reluctant to sell on a permanent deal. However, any deal with a big club like Chelsea would surely require a permanent sale or loan with option/obligation to buy. Let us wait and see how this transfer story develops.
