JJ Gabriel - The next Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United?
It was on the 9th of December that JJ Gabriel made history at Old Trafford, as he became the youngest player ever to feature for Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup. The Man United youngster made his debut for the Under-18 side on Tuesday evening at the age of 15 years, two months and three days. He also celebrated the record in the most stylish way possible, as Gabriel scored the only goal of the game against Peterborough at Old Trafford to help his team earn a 1-0 victory.
Gabriel is already highly rated by Manchester United, and he has already spent time training alongside the first-team squad. He's already established himself as a versatile forward, with the player being able to play as striker, winger or even secondary striker.
That's not all, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has already met him as well, who reportedly explained to him his philosophy and the importance of working hard. In fact, Amorim is said to have mentioned club legend Cristiano Ronaldo as an example during the exchange.
In demand across Europe
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously reported that Jason Wilcox, Manchester United director, had played a huge role in stopping Gabriel from leaving the club in 2025. Both Manchester City and Barcelona were reportedly interested in the player. It was the presence of Wilcox and club CEO Omar Berrada with the player's representatives that they realized how highly they valued him at the club, and thus an agreement was reached that the player would stay at United. The player and his family were even invited to watch Manchester United's 2025-2026 Premier League opener against Arsenal from the directors' box, which is the biggest indication of the immense potential United see in him. That's not all. JJ Gabriel has reportedly been extended an invitation to enjoy a box at the new Old Trafford, set for completion by 2030.
