Kylian Mbappé - Most goals in a single Champions League season

Bayern Munich were dominant and too good for Real Madrid in the Champions League Quarter Finals, but a goal from Kylian Mbappe towards the end means not all hope is lost for Los Blancos. Goals from Luis Diaz and Harry Kane saw Bayern leading the game 2-0, and it even appeared like they might add a third as well. However, Mbappé, as he has often done this season, came to the rescue for Real Madrid in the end and scored in the 74th minute. This means Real Madrid still have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League semis, although Bayern are still the favourites, as both the clubs will meet again on April 15th in the Allianz Arena.

Coming back to Mbappé, his goal not only kept Real Madrid's Champions League dreams alive, but he is now part of a legendary Champions League goalscoring list which includes legends such as Lionel Messi and his idol, Real Madrid's greatest player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe's goal against Bayern Munich was his 14th in the Champions League this season, and thus he is now part of the coveted list of players who have scored the Most goals in a single Champions League season . Mbappé, with 14 goals, has now equalled Lionel Messi, who achieved those same numbers with Barcelona during the 2011-12 season. The list is dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo, who sits at the top and is also featured multiple times, which isn't a big surprise considering he is arguably the greatest ever player in Champions League history.

17 - Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid, 2013/14)

16 - Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid, 2015/16)

15 - Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich, 2019/20)

15 - Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid, 2017/18)

15 - Karim Benzema (Real Madrid, 2021/22)

14 - Lionel Messi (Barcelona, 2011/12)

14 - Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid, 2025/26)

Ronaldo's dominance is quite noticeable when you look at the list, as he's been featured three times. All Mbappé needs is a goal when Real Madrid meet Bayern in Germany next week to eclipse Messi from this list, and equal his idols Karim Benzema and Ronaldo, who are both Real Madrid legends

Kylian Mbappé will have to replicate the Real Madrid magic of Cristiano Ronaldo if they are to overcome Bayern Munich in the Champions League Second Leg

Bayern Munich are heavy favourites to beat Real Madrid on aggregate and reach the Champions out semi-finals after the second-leg. The Bavaria have arguably been the best team in Europe this season, and the likes of Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise are all in unstoppable form at the moment. To overcome such a frightening side, Kylian Mbappe would have to do for Real Madrid what Ronaldo used to do for them regularly, which was to put up those unforgettable and legendary UCL performances that saw Los Blancos win games no matter what in the end. Let us wait and see if Mbappe can replicate CR7 and take Los Blancos to the Champions League semis.
