Liverpool host Arsenal in the round 3 of the Premier League on Tuesday at Anfield. The Reds opened their Premier League campaign with a close 4-3 win over Leeds at home. They defeated Chelsea in their second game of the campaign at Stamford Bridge. With six points from two games, Liverpool comes into this game to maintain their perfect start. The Gunners, on the other hand, defeated newly-promoted Fulham at the Craven Cottage. They brushed past West Ham in their second game, thanks to Nketiah’s 85th min goal.

Both teams have had a perfect start to the campaign and will be looking to further extend their lead. Both teams are among the best Premier League teams to win possession in the final third, which explains how attack-minded they are. But both teams will have some players missing out on the action due to injury.

1. Arsenal (p) 1 – 1 Liverpool (Community Shield) – 29th August 2020:

FA Cup winners Arsenal and Premier League winners Liverpool faced each other in the Community Shield. Arsenal starman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring for the Gunners in the 12th min as cut inside from the left and scored into the bottom-right corner. Both teams created fare amount of chances and Liverpool were able to equalize through Minamino in the 73rd min to put them back on level. After 90 mins, the game went into penalties. Arsenal scored all five as Brewster missed from the spot. The Gunners lifted their 16th Community Shield.


2. Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool (Premier League) – 16th July 2020:

Arsenal hosted Liverpool at the Emirates in the 36th Round of the 2019/20 Premier League season. The Gunners were sitting ninth in the table, while Liverpool already sealed their first Premier League title. Sadio Mane scored the opening goal of the game in the 20th min as Firmino & Robertson combined as the latter provided the assist for Mane. The Gunners equalised in the 32nd min after a big mistake from Van Dijk. Arsenal scored their second late in the first half after Alisson’s poor chipped pass was intercepted and Nelson was able to score. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for the Gunners and boosted their chances for a European spot.


3. Liverpool (p) 5-5 Arsenal (EFL Cup) – 31st October 2019:

Liverpool hosted the Gunners at home for the fourth round of the EFL Cup. Both teams made 11 changes to their squad for the game and fielded a younger lineup. The game started dramatically as Mustafi scored an own goal in the 5th min. In the 19th min, Torriera equalised through a rebound from Saka’s shot. Seven mins later, Gabriel Martinelli put the Gunners ahead as they complete a comeback. Martinelli scored again to give the Gunners a two-goal lead. Milner scored a penalty in the 43rd minute to cut the lead to one goal. Maitland-Niles scored in the second half to restore a two-goal lead again. Four mins later, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain scored a stunner to cut the lead again. Origi scored the equalizer in the 62nd min. Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock scored a banger from outside the box to put Arsenal ahead. In the 94th min, Origi scored Liverpool’s equalizer to level the score 5-5. The game went into penalties. Ceballos’ spot-kick was saved by Kelleher and the Reds were able to progress through to the next round with a 5-4 win on penalties.


4. Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal (Premier League) – 24th August 2019:

Liverpool faced the Gunners at home for the third round of the 2019/20 Premier League season. The Reds took the lead four mins before the half-time through Matip, who outjumped Guendouzi to score past Leno. Four mins after the half-time, Salah scored his penalty to extend the lead to 2-0. In the 58th min, Salah scored Liverpool’s third goal after a 1v1 with Leno. Five mins before the final whistle, Torriera scored for the Gunners and denied Adrian a clean sheet.


5. Liverpool 5-1 Arsenal (Premier League) – 29th December 2018:

Liverpool hosted the Gunners at home for the 30th Premier League matchday. Maitland-Niles put the Gunners ahead in the 11th minute through a counter. But Arsenal weren’t aware of what was coming. Their celebration was cut short as Firmino equalised after three mins. He scored another one just two mins later to turn the game on its head. Mane scored Liverpool’s third through Salah’s assist. A min before the half-time whistle, Salah scored his penalty to extend the lead to three goals. It was a disastrous first-half from the Gunners. This was not it, as Firmino scored his hattrick goal to extend Liverpool’s lead to four goals. The game ended 5-1 as Liverpool took a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
