Both clubs have a long history of success in English football and are located in significant British cities.   • Peter Crouch is a tall striker who spent his career with both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. Prior to joining Liverpool in 2005, he began his career with Tottenham, where he made 73 appearances and scored 24 goals. Before transferring to Portsmouth, he spent three years with Liverpool, making 134 games and tallying 42 goals. In 2009, Crouch went back to Tottenham, where he played for the club for four more seasons and registered 24 goals in 93 games.


  • Irish striker Robbie Keane played for both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. He started his professional career with Wolverhampton Wanderers and later played for Coventry City and Inter Milan. He afterwards relocated to Leeds United, where Tottenham Hotspur became interested in him. Before joining Liverpool in 2008, Keane made 306 appearances for Tottenham, scoring 122 goals. Before going back to Tottenham in 2009, he spent barely six months at Liverpool, where he made 28 appearances and scored seven goals.

  • Ray Clemence was a renowned custodian who spent his career with both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool. Prior to joining Liverpool, where he lasted 14 seasons and made 665 appearances, he began his career at Scunthorpe United. Before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 1981, Clemence won five league championships, three European Cups, two UEFA Cups, and one FA Cup with Liverpool. He played 240 times in four seasons for Tottenham before retiring in 1988.


  • Paul Walsh is a former striker who spent time with both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. After starting his career at Charlton Athletic, he later played for Luton Town and Liverpool. Before transferring to Tottenham Hotspur in 1988, Walsh made 112 appearances for Liverpool and scored 37 goals. Before transferring to Portsmouth, he played for Tottenham for three seasons, making 87 appearances and tallying 20 goals.


  • Christian Ziege is a former German national team player who spent time at Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. He started his career at Bayern Munich and then transferred to AC Milan and Liverpool. Before transferring to Middlesbrough, Ziege made 32 appearances for Liverpool, scoring two goals. The next year, in 2001, he relocated to Tottenham Hotspur, where he played for three seasons and made 55 appearances before transferring to Borussia Monchengladbach.
