Latest Injury update on Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Sky Italy has confirmed that Ruben Loftus-Cheek suffered a serious facial injury following a collision with goalkeeper Corvi during AC Milan’s match against Parma. Hospital checks revealed he broke his upper teeth, suffered two cuts, and fractured his alveolar bone.

The midfielder will undergo surgery on Monday, February 23, and is expected to be sidelined for several months. Despite the heavy impact and being stretchered off, he did not suffer a concussion or lose consciousness.

Our opinion on Ruben Loftus-Cheek

The injury to Ruben Loftus-Cheek is quite a serious one and we wish him a speedy recovery as soon as possible. He has been impressive for AC Milan this season, and his absence will now be surely felt by the club. Another heartbreaking fact is that the injury now means Loftus-Cheek has absolutely no chance of making it to this year's FIFA World Cup, and he would have to watch as a spectator.

It is quite disappointing when you consider the fact that Ruben Loftus-Cheek earned a surprise England recall on 3 October 2025, when manager Thomas Tuchel named him in the squad for matches against Wales and Latvia. The call-up marked a major milestone in his international comeback.

He went on to make his first England appearance in seven years on 9 October, coming off the bench in the 70th minute to replace Declan Rice against Wales, underlining his return to the national team setup after a long absence. Thus, there was a small chance that the English midfielder could make it to the final squad for the tournament, but now that dream has been broken.

Loftus-Cheek is currently 30, and this is one of the worst times for any footballer to suffer a serious Injury. Although in this case, he hasn't suffered anything like an ACL that could've had huge long-term consequences on his career. We hope he comes back stronger than ever from this setback.
