Inter Milan have already sealed their Serie A title this season and have stopped Juventus’ consecutive title-winning run. Atalanta also sealed a top-four spot after their 3-4 victory away from home against Genoa. The other two spots are up for grabs. Milan, Juventus, and Napoli are chasing the last two spots and only two teams among the three will be able to make it.

So, which players have impressed in Serie A this season? Let’s take a look at the Serie A team of the season.

The formation is a bit weird and an unbalanced 4-1-3-2, but the intention was to pick the players who have been most impressive in the Italian Serie A.

Goalkeeper – Samir Handanovic (Inter Milan)

The Slovenian shot-stopper, Handanovic has been in tremendous form this season for Conte’s Milan. He has conceded the fewest goals this season so far (30). He has started 35 games for Inter and has also kept 14 clean sheets (most clean sheets in Serie A). Inter have conceded the fewest goals in the Serie A and Samir has definitely played his part with a lot of stunning saves. He just edges AC Milan's Donnarumma to take our goalkeeper position.

Right-back – Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli)

The 27-year-old Italian has been in tremendous form for Napoli since joining from Empoli in 2019. The right-back has performed consistently this season, scoring three and setting up 6 goals in 34 appearances for Napoli. Another impressive stat has been his tackles succeeded (63%). He deserved his place in this lineup as he has been the best right back in the league this season.

Centre-back – Cristian Romero (Atalanta)

The 23-year-old Argentinian defender has been amazing for Atalanta this season. He has played 30 games and has scored two goals so far. He has a tackle success rate of 51% and a passing accuracy of 86%. He has 94 interceptions and 67 clearances in the league this season.

Centre-back – Diego Godin (Cagliari)

The 35-year-old Uruguayan veteran has cemented his place in the starting lineup after a series of impressive performances. Despite Cagliari’s struggles this season, Godin has been leading their backline against one of the best players in the league. He has maintained a tackle success rate of 53% and has 109 clearances in the league.

Left-back – Theo Hernandez (AC Milan)

The 23-year-old Frenchman has been terrific for AC Milan this season. He has twelve goal contributions for AC Milan (seven goals and five assists). He has completed 71 dribbles this season at an accuracy of 63%. He has also been solid defensively and that is why he’s our pick for the left-back spot.

Central Midfielder – Rodrigo De Paul (Udinese)

The 26-year-old Argentine has been one of the best midfielders in Serie A this season. Despite Udinese not making it to the top 10 this season, De Paul has made 18 goal contributions for the Italian side. He has scored nine goals and bagged nine assists. He has also created 89 chances for his teammates.

Central Midfielder – Ruslan Malinovsky (Atalanta)

The 28-year-old Ukrainian midfielder is a proper workhorse. Malinovsky has provided 12 assists to his teammates this season and has also scored eight goals in the process. He leads the assists chart in Serie A, ahead of Lukaku.

Right-midfielder – Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo)

Berardi has been important for Sassuolo in their run for a European spot this season and has carried his team forward on many occasions. The 26-year-old Italian winger has scored 16 goals this season, assisting five in the process.

Left-midfielder – Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli)

Insigne has been Napoli’s best player this season as they chase the top-four finish to qualify for the Champions League next season. Insigne has scored 18 goals for his team and has also bagged seven assists. He has also completed 62 dribbles, another impressive stat.

Striker – Romelu Lukaku (Inter Milan)

The Belgian striker has been Milan’s best player in their title-winning season. He has scored 23 goals and bagged 11 assists from 34 games. He has also completed 53 dribbles at an accuracy of 58%. He has been crucial for Inter, helping them lift the league title, by coming up in big games, and has been on a different level this season.

Striker – Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)

Who would have imagined that this list would have just one Juventus player? This described Juventus’ season. Juventus have been struggling this season and have already lost the title. They now fear the loss of missing out on Champions League football as they chase the top four spot. Ronaldo has been single-handedly carrying the Old Lady on various occasions. Ronaldo has scored 29 goals this season and is most likely to win the Serie A golden boot this season.
