Summer Transfer Window Deadline Day 2020 5 Major Deals Completed | Sports Social Blog

The summer transfer window came to a close on October 5th as a host of elite talent switched clubs. The summer transfer deadline day didn’t disappoint as many clubs frantically made their moves to strengthen their squad.

We take a look at the 5 major deals completed on Transfer deadline day 2020:

1. Thomas Partey,  Atletico Madrid to Arsenal:

On transfer deadline day, Arsenal secured a deal for their long-term target Thomas Partey by activating his 45 million euros release clause. The Ghanian midfielder moved to the Emirates after making 188 appearances for Atletico Madrid. Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira has gone the other way on a season long loan. Mikel Arteta would be hopeful that Partey brings some much needed steel in midfield and fires straightaway for the Gunners.

2.  Edinson Cavani, Manchester United:

Manchester United swooped for Edinson Cavani on a busy transfer deadline day. The Uruguayan striker moves on a free transfer after his deal with Paris Saint-Germain expired in June. The United faithful welcomed their new signing with the hope that Cavani can bring his experience and professionalism in addition to his obvious goal scoring qualities to bring an end to their slump.

3. Alex Telles, Porto to Manchester United:

The arrival of Alex Telles from FC Porto for 15 million euros would seem a necessary arrival for Manchester United considering their leaky defence. The 27 year old Brazilian left-back is considered an attacking full-back who United scouts have been monitoring for sometime. Alex Telles brings competition in the left-back spot for Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams in what is considered to be a problematic position for United since Patrice Evra left the club.

4. Federico Chiesa,  Fiorentina to Juventus:

Juventus have signed Italian winger Ferderico Chiesa from Fiorentina in a deal worth upto 60 million euros. Chiesa joins the Bianconeri for an initial two-year loan with an obligation to buy. Chiesa is known for his pace and trickery in the final third and would add attacking impetus for the Italian champions. The Chiesa deal was announced after Douglas Costa rejoined Bayern Munich.

5. Ben Godfrey, Norwich City to Everton:

In what has been a long transfer window for Everton, Everton completed a deadline day deal for centre-back Ben Godfrey from Norwich City. In a deal worth 20 million euros, Everton seem to have secured the signature of a potential gem. Carlo Ancelloti has been on the lookout for a young centre-back to partner the likes of Michael Keane and Yerry Mina in defence and Godfrey seems to be a long term fix for the Toffees. The England Under-21 international seems to be an important part of the Ancelloti revolution in the blue half of Merseyside.
