UEFA Women’s Euro has experienced some great players, who have stayed in the memories forever with their regular goal-scoring habits. Here, we will see the top five most goal-scorers in the UEFA Women’s Euro history.
Lotta Schelin (Sweden): 8 goals
Former Swedish striker Lotta Schelin scored eight goals after featuring in four editions in the UEFA Women’s Euro history. While she finished her first edition goalless (2005), she scored only one goal in the 2009 edition, five goals in the 2013 edition, and two more goals in the 2017 edition. In the 2013 edition, she finished as the leading goal-scorer, while her team reached the Semi-finals.
Carolina Morace (Italy): 8 goals
Former Italian striker Carolina Morace scored eight goals in UEFA Women’s Euro history after representing her nation in the tournament for six editions. Apart from failing to score in two editions (1989 and 1991), Morace scored four goals in the 1997 edition, two goals in the inaugural edition (1984), and one goal in the 1987 and 1993 editions. She was the joint leading goal-scorer in the 1997 edition, where Italy finished as the runners-up. Morace was also a part of the 1993 runners-up team.
Heidi Mohr (Germany): 8 goals
Former German forward Heidi Mohr scored eight goals and was the first to achieve this feat in UEFA Women’s Euro history. She featured in the 1989, 1991, 1993, and 1995 editions, where she scored one, four, one, and two goals, respectively. She was the leading goal-scorer in the 1991 edition, while she was a part of Germany’s three title-winning successes (1989, 1991, and 1995), except for their finishing in fourth position in the 1993 edition.
Birgit Prinz (Germany): 10 goals
Former German striker Birgit Prinz scored 10 goals in UEFA Women’s Euro history. She featured in five editions and holds the record for most matches in the tournament history (23 matches), while scoring two goals in the 1995, 1997, and 2009 editions, three goals in the 2005 edition, and a single goal in the 2001 edition. In her all five editions, Germany won the UEFA Women’s Euro trophies.
Inka Grings (Germany): 10 goals
Playing in two editions, former German striker Inka Grings scored 10 goals in UEFA Women’s Euro history. In the 2005 and 2009 editions, she scored four and six goals, respectively, as she finished both those editions as the only leading goal-scorer. Germany lifted the trophy in both those editions.
