Sunderland have been the biggest surprise package of the Premier League 2025-26 season so far

As the EPL 2025-26 season is about to reach Gameweek 7, we asked ourselves what we learned from the Premier League so far as of today. The 2025-26 Premier League season has been a fantastic one so far, with Liverpool and Arsenal currently looking like the top 2 teams who could be fighting for the title. However, what has shocked us would be the performance of smaller clubs like Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, and Sunderland, who have all exceeded expectations so far. Much more needs to be said though regarding the EPL so far, hence let us not waste any more time. Scroll down below to find out what we learned from the Premier League as of today.

5 things we learned from the EPL as of today

Ruben Amorim is on the edge

Ruben Amorim looks like a shadow of the manager he was at Sporting in Portugal. The smile is gone, and all that we see in him now is stress and disappointment. Manchester United have been horrible so far this season, and they will be facing Sunderland in Gameweek 7. If Sunderland manage to pull of a surprising victory against Manchester United, it could be the end of Amorim's time at United. As things stand, a revival for Amorim at United looks increasingly unlikely and the sack seems inevitable.

Sunderland won't get relegated

Sunderland have been the biggest surprise package of the Premier League season so far. They have proved how much of a difference great owners can make for any club, as Sunderland had spent huge in the Summer transfer window. The results of those can be seen on the field, as they currently sit 5th in the Premier League with 3 wins, 2 draws, and just a single loss. We are absolutely sure that the dream run is set to continue and they won't be in a relegation battle.

Pep Guardiola misused Jack Grealish

For all his iconic silverware triumphs and tactical excellence, one major criticism of Pep Guardiola has been the way in which he develops players. Jack Grealish moved to City with massive expectations and ultimately ended up as a flop. One of the major factors that led to his downfall at City according to many is Guardiola's insistence on having him become a possession based player. After Jack Grealish joined Everton , the Old Grealish is finally back, full of flair, confidence, and outstanding creativity.

Florian Wirtz needs more time

A recent post by Opta showed that Florian Wirtz, along with Jack Grealish, ranked 1st in most chances created for Premier League clubs in all competitions this season. This is a testament to the fact that Wirtz is undoubtedly a special player and all that needs is some time to adapt to the English game. Football fans are increasingly losing patience these days, but we suggest you stay calm, as we firmly believe the best of Wirtz is yet to come.

Chelsea's Club World Cup success has come at a cost

Chelsea shocked everyone by beating PSG to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Fast forward to the present, the extra games played by them to achieve the historic feat might have come at a cost. The likes of Cole Palmer, Liam Delap, Levi Colewill, Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana, and few other stars are all suffering from injuries. Things might get even more worse as the season progresses, and Enzo Maresca might have a rude awakening in front of him.

These are the 5 major things we learned from the Premier League so far as of today. We will be back with this series later when the EPL landscape changes as the season progresses. See you soon.
