I have been wanting to write this article for sometime now and www waiting for the right moment to do so and after seeing the incredible performance by the talisman of the Croatian team I have to write this article. Luka Modric has made me a fan for life because what he has achieved in his career is nothing short of legendary. He has single handedly taken the Croatian team to the semi final of the 2022 World Cup and even I have to admit that I did not give Croatia much of a chance.
Not only has he been great for his nation but for his club Real Madrid he has been such an important player in the last decade that they are not willing to let him go. In a team full of stars, Luka Modric was the brightest of them all and even now at the age of 37 he is playing better than so many who are in their 20s. So, let’s see what makes him so great.
Habit of winning
Luka Modric has a habit of winning whether it be with club or country. For Real Madrid he has won everything there is there to win in club football. He has won 3 La Liga titles with Real Madrid which is amazing. He also has won the UEFA Champions League which is the biggest trophy in club football a record 5 times in his career. Very few other players have won this trophy 5 Times. He has also won the FIFA Club World Cup 4 times in his glittering career. And most importantly he won the Ballon D’Or in 2018 which is the biggest individual award in football.
Leading in Back to Back World Cup Semi Finals
This is one of the main reasons why Luka Modric is the greatest of all time. It’s great to lead the nation into a World Cup semi final once and in 2018 he led Croatia all the way to the World Cup final and then finally he was appreciated. Then in the 2022 World Cup he had no one , Ivan Rakitic retired and he had no striker but still he gave it everything and the result is that he has once again led his nation to the semi final of the World Cup. No other midfielder can say they have done that.

The perfect Talisman and chance creator
One of the main jobs of a midfielder is to create goal scoring opportunities and no one is better at that than Luka Modric as we have seen from time to time and over the past decade for both club and country. Luka Modric was the perfect midfielder for Real Madrid and for his nation not only is he the perfect midfielder but he is also their talisman who leads by example as at the age of 37 he plays the full 120 minutes without breaking a sweat. He is the perfect role model for all the young players from Croatia.
