Cole Palmer was back to his brilliant best for Liam Rosenior's Chelsea against Wolves, as he scored a sensational first half hat-trick to help his side win 3-1. Palmer's season has been overshadowed by injuries so far, but the former Manchester City has been brilliant whenever he plays for Chelsea. The hat-trick against Wolves was yet another example of that, and Liam Rosenior would be hoping his star man could eventually overcome his injury issues and play more often for The Blues.
Palmer has made 13 appearances for Chelsea so far in the Premier League, and has scored 7 goals. His hat-trick against Wolves was a historic one as well, with Palmer breaking multiple Chelsea records after scoring against Wolves.
Multiple Chelsea records broken by Cole Palmer after hat-trick against Wolves
Cole Palmer produced a historic performance with a first-half hat-trick against Wolves, taking his tally to four Premier League hat-tricks for Chelsea, which more than any player in the club’s history, thus surpassing club legends Drogba, Lampard and Hasselbaink. His treble, completed in 38 minutes with two penalties and a composed finish, ranked as Chelsea’s third-fastest Premier League hat-trick, adding to his record for the fastest and second-fastest for the club.
The feat also made Palmer the first player in Premier League history to score three first-half hat-tricks. To cap off a remarkable day, he overtook John Terry to become Chelsea’s second-highest English goalscorer in the Premier League with 44 goals, now only behind the legendary Frank Lampard.
Our opinion Cole Palmer's hat-trick and his season so far
We are absolutely not surprised at all after seeing Cole Palmer's hat-trick against Wolves. The former Manchester City has always been considered by us to be one of the best footballers in the world on his day, and the scary thing is that he still has a long way to go before reaching his full potential, as he is still just 23 years old. Chelsea should even build their whole team around him , as that's how high we rate Palmer.
The English midfielder has been extremely unfortunate this season with injury issues, and that has led to Chelsea being extremely careful with his minutes. Sadly his fitness issues have overshadowed the brilliant player in this season, which even led to some reports mentioning the player to be unhappy at Chelsea and linking him to Manchester United.
We just hope Cole Palmer gets to overcome his injury issues, similar to his club captain Reece James, and keep delivering such iconic performances on the football field every now and then.
