Let's not delay any further then, scroll down to check out the worst 5 Premier league flops this season.
Ranking our worst 5 Premier League Signings of the 25/26 season
Alejandro Garnacho
For a club that already had so many wide attacking players, it was strange to see Chelsea sign Garnacho from a sporting perspective. However, he was perfect for their strategy of buying young players with huge potential. So far though, the move has been a disaster, as Garnacho has gone from being a starter to Man Utd to now an impact sub at Chelsea. Luckily for him, he still has enough time to change things.
Alexander Isak
The only reason Alexander Isak is not ranked above in this list is due to the fact he's missed most of the season due to a serious Injury, which he is expected to recover from soon. However, even in the limited appearances he made, Isak was absolutely underwhelming and looked like a shadow of the superstar striker that we all saw at Newcastle. It couldn't have been a worse debut season than this for a British-record transfer.
Florian Wirtz
Before Isak's transfer to Liverpool, Florian Wirtz joining the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen was the British-record transfer fee in that same transfer window. Sadly for Liverpool fans, although the situation here is a bit better, Wirtz has also been a flop this season for Liverpool. The promising thing though is he has improved a lot in the past few months, and it does look like we'll see the best of him next season.
Liam Delap
Liam Delap rejected the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United, Everton, Nottingham Forest, AC Milan and Juventus to join Chelsea from Ipswich last summer. How he must be regretting that decision right now. Delap has scored a grand total of 1 goal in 21 Premier League appearances this season, and he must be praying for this nightmare season to just get over. Yoane Wissa
Yoane Wissa had proven himself to be a fantastic Premier League proven striker at Brentford. The expectation was that he'll immediately start scoring for Newcastle upon joining, which would've given much needed time for his new teammate Nick Woltemade to adapt to the club. What has instead happened is a disastrous debut season that began with a serious injury and now a place on the Newcastle bench due to his underwhelming performances. It can't get worse than this.
In conclusion, the 2025/26 Premier League season has seen several high-profile signings fail to live up to expectations, turning into some of the biggest flops of the campaign. Despite arriving with strong reputations and impressive performances at their previous clubs, these players have struggled to adapt and make an impact at their new teams. From record-breaking transfers to seemingly smart bargain deals, these signings have so far proven to be disappointing investments. Before this season ends, they will need to improve quickly to justify their price tags and avoid being remembered among the worst Premier League signings of the season.
