It was the time for the Monaco Grand Prix. This is a yearly tradition for Formula 1. This was an important race for the other 19 drivers to catch up to Max Verstappen. This is the smallest track in the Formula 1 calendar. This race was for 78 Laps.

Key Facts from the Race

  • Charles Leclerc is the first home born driver to win the Monaco Grand Prix since 1931 and the first in the World Championships era of Formula 1.

  • This is the first win for Charles Leclerc since the 2022 Australian Grand Prix. This is his first race win after 39 races.

  • This was the 10th win at Monaco for Ferrari.

  • Oscar Piastri finished P2 which was his best finish since Qatar 2023 where he also finished P2.

  • Carlos Sainz has not finished outside the Top 5 this season as he finished P3 in this race.

Race Results: as it happened

The qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix was one for the books. There were a lot of twists and turns. Max Verstappen was P6 and hometown boy Charles Leclerc was P1 Followed by Oscar Piastri in P2. The race started and Charles Leclerc was off to a strong start. Carlos Sainz was hit very hard in the first lap as there was contact with Oscar Piastri. Sergio Perez was also out and his car was damaged after getting hit by Kevin Magnussen. There was a red flag meaning the race was stopped. The race resumed and 76 Laps were left. The race resumed with 16 drivers as Esteban Ocon was out of the race. By Lap 10, Oscar Piastri had the fastest lap and he was one second behind Charles Leclerc. By Lap 23, George Russell was in P5 and he was looking like he would be there. Fernando Alonso was in P12 with Valteri Bottas in P16.


It was Lap 29 of the race and Lando Norris was in P4 and he was one second behind Carlos Sainz. Graining was becoming a big issue for the drivers as Carlos Sainz, the two Mercedes drivers and Aston Martin drivers were also having this problem. By Lap 34, Lando Norris was ahead of George Russell and it was looking good for the British driver. Fernando Alonso was in P12 with teammate Lance Stroll in P11 and Pierre Gasly in P10. At Lap 44, Lance Stroll was in the pits and he was out in P11. By Lap 48, Charles Leclerc was ahead by 2 seconds to Oscar Piastri. It was time for the pits as Lewis Hamilton switched to the hurdles and was in P7. Yuki Tsonuda was in P8 and Max Verstappen was in P6 at Lap 50.


It was the closing stages of the race and Logan Sargeant was almost hit but he held onto P15. Oscar Piastri was getting chased down by Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc was confident of a win. George Russell was in P5 as he faced the challenge from Max Verstappen. The race was over and Charles Leclerc won his home race in Monaco. Oscar Piastri raced an incredible face for P2. Carlos Sainz was P3 and Lando Norris was P4. George Russell was in P5 followed by Max Verstappen of Red Bull in P6. Lewis Hamilton was P7 followed by Yuki Tsonuda of RB in P8. Alexander Albon and Pierre Gasly were in P9 and P10 rounding off the points.
