HIL Governing Council started the Men’s HIL 2025/26 with a thrilling 3-2 win against SG Pipers, where New Zealander Kane Russell recorded the first hat-trick of the season.
The first two quarters ended goalless as the half-time ended without any goals scored. In the first minute of the third quarter, Australian Ky Willott provided the lead for SG Pipers with a field goal.
However, in the fifth and seventh minutes of the third quarter, New Zealander Kane Russell scored two goals from two quick penalty corners.
In the 56th minute, Dilraj Singh converted a penalty corner to equalise the scoreline for SG Pipers. In the final minute of the match, Kane Russell scored the winning goal for HIL Governing Council, as his conversion from another penalty corner secured the first hat-trick of the season.
