How each team can qualify for the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 Final

The last match of the Super 4s will be played on September 6, where South Korea will face Malaysia, and India will take on China.

  • India need at least a draw against China to secure their spot for the Final. However, they can also reach the Final despite a defeat in the last Super 4s game if South Korea don’t lose the match against Malaysia or win against Malaysia but don’t beat India in the tie-breaker situation (similar for Malaysia in case of a draw), including the goal difference.

  • A win against India will confirm China’s qualification for the Final, while a draw result will need to look at the match result of South Korea vs Malaysia, where South Korea must avoid losing, while their win don’t beat China in the tie-breaker situation.

  • Just like China, Malaysia need a win to secure their place in the Final. However, a draw will depend on the India vs China match result, as Malaysia will qualify if China lose or they beat India with a big margin, which helps Malaysia beat the hosts in the tie-breaker situation.

  • South Korea can only qualify for the Final if they beat Malaysia. However, they still need to watch out for the result of the India vs China match, where they will comfortably qualify if China lose. But if China draw or win, South Korea need to beat either China or India, respectively, in the tie-breaker situation.

Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025: 5th-8th Place Semi-finals

  • Bangladesh 5 – 1 Kazakhstan

By defeating Kazakhstan 5-1, Bangladesh have qualified for the World Cup Qualifiers, as they will face Japan for the fifth-place playoff. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan have failed to qualify for the World Cup Qualifiers from this competition, as they will face Chinese Taipei in the seventh-place playoff.
