With an equal world record score, the Indian women’s compound archery team won a gold medal on Wednesday (30 September) after beating China in the final.


Chikitha Taniparthi, Jyothi Surekha, and Prithika Pradeep represented the Indian women’s compound archery team that dominated the final against China with the final scoreline of 234-238, as the Indian team won the gold medal after leveling the world record. In 2014, South Korea set the world record score of 238 multiple times, including in the Asian Games. 


Earlier, on the same day, in the Semifinals, China beat Chinese Taipei (230-229), while India defeated South Korea (233-234). In the bronze medal game, South Korea defeated Chinese Taipei (228-229) to secure the podium finish.


The 30-year-old Jyothi Surekha claimed her fourth Asian Games gold medal, winning three times in the 2022 edition (one each in individual, women’s team, and mixed team). She has won 11 World Cup gold medals, seven Asian Archery Championships gold medals, and one World Archery Championships gold medal. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old Chikitha and the 18-year-old Prithika won their first Asian Games medal.
