Indian players who failed to leave their mark in IPL

There have been few big names in the Indian cricketing circuit who have not been able to make it count in IPL.

Ishant Sharma has failed to live up to the expectations in IPL

The popularity of IPL is on its peak worldwide and it has marked its prestigious all over the world too. Not only for its fans IPL has resembled as a festival for its players too. Especially for domestic Cricketers, IPL acts as a crucial parameter for their arrival in International matches. IPL has given birth to many amazing stars which were not much popular earlier but with their incredible contribution, they are able to conquer their place in the Indian team and in the heart of their fans too. But just like every coin has its two faces, IPL is also not exceptional to this. There are also many Cricketers whose presence got evaporated in the eyes of Cricket Fans due to their poor forms in IPL. Let's have a look at these players:-


Unmukt Chand :

Unmukt made his IPL debut for Delhi Daredevils in 2011. His performances, however, are nowhere near his match-winning performances for India U19 in the World Cup and he was dropped for the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He's played a total of 7 matches scoring only 61 runs in total. He was picked for the Mumbai Indians in the 2015 season and spent most of the season on the sidelines due to indifferent performances.


Ashok Dinda :

Dinda was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders before the inaugural IPL, and he was immediately effective. In the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League, Dinda joined the Pune Warriors India franchise. In 2014, he was auctioned for RCB and again in IPL 2016 and 2017 he was taken by Rising Pune Supergiants. His inconsistent performance in IPL and other domestic formats vanished his career.

Yuvraj Singh :

Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab in the first two seasons; in 2010, the third season, icon player status was discontinued and the captaincy given to Kumar Sangakkara. In 2011, Yuvraj Singh was bought by the Pune Warriors and chosen as captain. Pune Warriors finished ninth in that session.n 2014, Yuvraj was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for 14 crores Kingfisher employee union sent a letter to Yuvraj requesting him not to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 2015, he was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a mammoth Rs. 16 crores in 2018 Indian Premier League, he was picked by Kings XI Punjab for a base price of 2 crores. He scored a meagre 64 runs from 7 matches at a paltry average of 12.80. He was dropped for some matches. This season was also his worst IPL season. In 2019 IPL auction, Yuvraj Singh was purchased by Mumbai Indians for his base price of ₹1 crore.


Ishant Sharma :

He was picked up by KKR in the inaugural season of IPL.  In 2011 IPL, Deccan Chargers auctioned him. He was also the part of SRH, RPS and KXIP. Despite plenty of opportunities, he was not so successful in showing his remarkable performance during the whole season of IPL. The fact remains that Ishant lost the most crucial aspect of his bowling - his pace.


Murugan Ashwin :

He was bought at the 2016 Indian Premier League auction by the Rising Pune Supergiants for 4.5 crores, which was 45 times the original base price of 10 lakhs. In  2017, he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils team for 1 crore. In IPL 2018, he was bought by the RCB. In IPL 2019, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab in the player auction.
