Abhishek Sharma was born on 4th September,2000. He is from Amritsar, Punjab. He was the captain of India's U-19 team when they toured Sri Lanka for the youth Asia Cup. He led his team successfully to win the title. In the 2016-17 season, he burst into the scene when he led Punjab from the front in their successful defense of the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy. He also played crucial roles in Punjab finishing runners up in 2013-14 season and lifting the title in 2014-15 season.

 

He started playing at the age of seven. It was a motto for him to play cricket. He was in love with this sport so much that he recalled that it was difficult for anyone to separate him and cricket. His parents were always supportive of his decision. They never stood in front of his dream. His school also supported very much. He recalls that his parents are on cloud nine as they can't keep their excitement level under control due to their son's success. He said that cricket has helped him take more responsibilities and helped him to deal with pressure situations pretty well.

He is a left handed batsman and can bowl left arm orthodox. He was part of India's U-19 title winning team in 2018. He played a crucial role in that tournament. He smashed 46 runs off 19 balls in his IPL debut for the franchise Delhi Daredevils. He made his first class debut against Himachal Pradesh on 6th October,2017 at Dharamshala. He scored 516 runs in 20 innings with an average of 28.66. He also picked up 14 wickets in this format. He made his List A debut on 25th February,2017 against Vidarbha at Delhi. He scored 836 runs in 30 innings at an average of 30.96. He took 9 wickets with an economy rate of 5.20. He made his T20 debut on 12th May,2018 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Delhi. He scored 1011 runs in 48 innings with an average of 25.92. This includes 91 fours and 44 sixes. He also picked up 16 wickets.

 

This year, he is playing for the franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has been given a new role of opener in this team. Till now, he has had a decent tournament. With all the expectations he has set for himself, a better tournament is expected from him.
