The 29-year-old right-arm medium fast bowler Akash Madhwal has lately impressed for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2023. During the Eliminator of the IPL 2023, he won the Player of the Match award for his dominating match-winning bowling performance against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He recorded the best bowling figures in the IPL playoffs history, becoming the first bowler to claim a five-wicket haul in IPL Playoffs.  

Chennai hosted that IPL 2023 Eliminator. While MI scored 182/8 (20 overs) after choosing to bat first, LSG were bundled out for only 101 runs (16.3 overs). MI advanced to the Qualifier 2 of this tournament with that 81-run win as they will face Gujarat Titans (GT) in search of the last spot for the Final of this competition.

MI pacer Akash Madhwal, who claimed a four-wicket haul in his previous game against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), had record-breaking incredible bowling figures of 3.3-0-5-5 against LSG in the Eliminator. He became the first bowler to record a five-wicket haul in the history of IPL playoffs or knockout stages.
