Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their long wait to win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai), as RCB beat the hosts CSK by 50 runs in the eighth match of the IPL 2025 last Friday night (28th March).
After CSK chose to field first, RCB scored 196/7 in 20 overs. The openers Phil Salt (32) and Virat Kohli (31) added valuable 30s, while the skipper Rajat Patidar scored 51 runs, and Tim David had a valuable cameo of 22 not out in eight balls.
In reply, CSK were never in the battle as the hosts were restricted to 146/8 in 20 overs. Only the opener Rachin Ravindra (41) and the no.9 batter MS Dhoni (30) reached the 30-run mark in that innings.

RCB scored 196/7 in 20 overs. It was the second-highest first-innings IPL total for a visiting team against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai). The record in this list is 202/6 in 20 overs by KKR in 2018.
RCB victories against CSK in Chennai: 2008 and 2025
It was RCB’s second win against CSK in Chennai. After beating CSK by 14 runs in the 2008 edition, RCB suffered eight straight losses against CSK in Chennai between 2010 and 2024 before winning their latest encounter.

RCB recorded their largest victory margin (by runs) against CSK by winning by 50 runs. Their previous record was winning by 37 runs in Dubai (DICS) in 2020.
