The IPL 2024 auction was a very special event as it was the first IPL auction outside India. Dubai hosted the exciting IPL 2024 auction on 19 December 2023. 

In this article, we are looking at the top 10 most expensive Indian players at the IPL 2024 auction.

While 333 players were shortlisted from 1166 registered players for the IPL 2024 auction, 214 cricketers were Indians among the shortlisted names.

A total of 77 slots were available to be filled at the IPL 2024 auction, and 42 Indians were bought by the teams in that auction.

Robin Minz (Gujarat Titans) - 3.6 Crore

Uncapped Indian cricketer Robin Minz was involved in an interesting bidding war at the IPL 2024 auction. Chennai Super Kings started the bidding war from the base price of INR 20 lakh, where they faced a long battle against their rivals Mumbai Indians. From INR 1.40 crore, Gujarat Titans replaced CSK. SunRisers Hyderabad made a late entry in that bidding war (from INR 3 crore), but Titans ultimately won Minz for INR 3.60 crore.

Shardul Thakur (CSK) - 4 Crore

Although the Indian right-arm pacer Shardul Thakur was expected to be part of a strong bidding war, his battle was quickly ended. From his INR 2 crore base price, it was the only battle between Chennai Super Kings and SunRisers Hyderabad, where CSK finally won the battle for INR 4 crore.

Yash Dayal (RCB) - 5 Crore

At the IPL 2024 auction, Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bangalore had a long battle for the uncapped Indian bowler Yash Dayal. His bidding war started from the base price of INR 20 lakh, and RCB finalised him for INR 5 crore.

Shubham Dubey (Rajasthan Royals) - 5.80 Crore

The uncapped Indian left-handed power-hitter Shubham Dubey was a special name for two teams at the IPL 2024 auction. Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals battle started from INR 20 lakh, and Rajasthan Royals have finally welcomed him for an INR 5.80 crore bid.

Umesh Yadav (Gujarat Titans) - 5.80 Crore

Indian right-arm pacer Umesh Yadav had a base price of INR 2 crore, and three teams were excited for him. Starting the battle with SunRisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals lately replaced SRH, and Titans ultimately won that battle for INR 5.80 crore.

Shivam Mavi (Lucknow SuperGiants) - 6.40 Crore

For the Indian cricketer Shivam Mavi, who had a base price of INR 50 lakh at the IPL 2024 auction, Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore had a long battle. Mavi will ultimately serve for LSG at the IPL 2024 as his bidding price went to INR 6.40 crore.

Kumar Kushagra (Delhi Capitals) - 7.20 Crore

Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals had a strong battle for the uncapped wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra, who had a base price of INR 20 lakh. Initially, it was the battle between CSK and GT, while DC replaced CSK at INR 70 lakh, and the GT vs DC battle went on for a very long. Ultimately, Delhi Capitals won that bid for INR 7.20 crore.

Shahrukh Khan (Gujarat Titans) - 7.40 Crore

Uncapped Shahrukh Khan was expected to be part of a strong bidding war for a good record in his early IPL career. The bid war started from the base price of INR 40 lakh, where his former team Punjab Kings had a battle against Gujarat Titans. Ultimately, Titans won the bid for INR 7.40 crore.

Sameer Rizvi (CSK) - 8.40 Crore

IPL 2024 auction stunned the cricket world with a long bidding war for the uncapped batter Sameer Rizvi, whose base price was INR 20 lakh. Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans had a long battle for the uncapped player, while Delhi Capitals only fought lately, but CSK ultimately overpowered everyone with the bid of INR 8.40 crore.

Harshal Patel (Punjab Kings) - 11.75 Crore

The Indian cricketer Harshal Patel's long bidding war wasn’t a surprise one at the IPL 2024 auction. Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings battled against each other for Harshal from the base price of INR 2 crore. Lucknow SuperGiants only replaced GT for INR 11 crore, but Punjab Kings finally won the cricketer for INR 11.75 crore – the highest bid for any Indian cricketer at the IPL 2024 auction.
